Hello guys,

Its my first post here. I purchased computer last year according to the specifications recommended in the 2012 buyer's guide. My computer Specifications are given below -

Processor - Intel Core i5-3570K
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB @ 1600 MHz
GPU - Nvidia 8600 GT
HDD - Western Digital 2TB

I bought a Snow Leopard DVD (10.6.3) recently and I really want to install it on my PC. But I am not able to install Snow Leopard, because the iBoot CD is not working. Initially, I tried using the iBoot Ivy Bridge disk. When trying to boot from it, I get this error on the screen -

cdboot: init
cdboot: file size: 000429A0
cdboot: reading sectors: 00000086
cdboot: loading..........
cdboot: BIOS disk read error at sector: 00002E19
cdboot: error

Nothing happens after that. I tried burning 2 more iBoot Ivy Bridge CDs, but still get the same problem. I even tried using the iBoot and iBoot Legacy CDs. I dont get this error while using those CDs, but just a blank screen.

What may be the problem?

Please help.

Thanks.

Try with a different CD burner. Or a different burning software.

So after burning some 6-7 disks, one BD finally worked. Installed it completely, but Snow Leopard did not boot without the iBoot CD. It got stuck at the Apple logo when trying to boot without iBoot. Basically I did not use MultiBeast correctly. So I decided to format the HDD and reinstall the whole thing. After formatting the HDD, I am getting the same BIOS Disk Read error again. Using the same iBoot CD which was working a few minutes back.

All of the hardware that you have is geared towards Mountain Lion - not SL.
THe CPU and the 77 chip set are not supported in SL and you will not get SL to Boot from a HD, Only booting from the Iboot IB CD.
Yes you should be able to get SL installed to a minimum configuration of the hardware.
You will need to remove the older GFX card and use the onboard GFX
make sure you set the GFX display to internal in the BIOS and the video ram to 64megs.

As you have a GB Motherboard you should check the BIOS for this and see if you can use the DSDT files that are on this site for help w the install.

Also you will need to use some startup switches at Boot: " -v PCIRootUID=0"
