Hey guys, long time reader and finally pulled the trigger on my first Mackintosh build based on the Custom mac pro Recommendations.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare
Core i7-6700K

M.2 Samsung 960 512gb HD - WORKING
Firewire Card for Apogee Ensemble - WORKING
Currently using onboard graphics but will upgrade soon.

I have managed to get most things working and booting including from the M.2 card.

I think i have created a working ssdt with ssdtprgen using Turbo 4.6 as option.

My two issues that i believe may be interconnected.
1. Before I overclocked the 6700k i was getting geek bench 4.0 of approx 14000 Multi 64 bit and 17,000 after overclocking to 4.6
These seem a touch low, can you point me in the right direction at what i need to look for / at and fix.

2. and the final one is the machine does not go to sleep. Just go's to a white arrow. i thought i have been following instructions inline with other current gigabyte boards.

thanks so much in advanced.

That's definitely low - at 4.6 I'm getting a minimum of 18,500 and maximum 19,500 multi-core and 5,800 and 6,000 single core.

Perhaps it's not the CPU that's limiting? What about the RAM - is it showing at the correct mhz? I'm using
3200 MHz DDR4 and had to change XMPDetection to 1 under Boot in Clover Configurator.

I assume you've checked that you're reaching those clock speeds during benchmarks using something like HWMonitor?

As the only other person I've seen using an 960 so far, can you run Black Magic Disk Speed Test please? I'm only hitting 2GB/s read for some reason. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Luke.. I'm getting both 2gbs / read and write on the Samsung 960. Seems to max out the app.

Thanks for the Ram advice, I added this and now shows the correct 3200 as I already had it right in the Bios.

Still getting about 17000 on the Geekbench. I also took off the DSDT, and now using HWPenable instead.

System seems to be flying, also worked through few issues with Sleep and now installed a 980ti.

I have the same board and chip as you. I'm getting in the upper 18500 or so for multi core and around 5800 for single core. I have an overclock at 4.6ghz as well. I ran intel power gadget while bench marking and noticed it is throttling all over the place. I haven't been able to disable throttling within OS X as it ignores my BIOS settings for that.

I also can't seem to get a working SSDT, I just get a black screen at start up. Where did you get the DSDT for the motherboard?

FYI I tried changing from SSDT to HWP Enabler and I dropped to down to 15,500 on Geekbench...it looks to be very reliant on the SMBIOS

Nevermind - I didn't RTFM :) What hex have you used for HWP? Using
0x64002e01 for 46 multiplier

What did you do to fix sleep - I'm facing a variety of issues so simply preventing sleep or monitor sleep for the moment.

have completely stuffed my system now, :( working through worse problems, after an update 960d won't boot at all, and when plugged in computer OS X won't boot, Have gone a fresh install and now when ever the 960d is in the computer it panics.

That could be you're using the wrong Rehabman patch for the m2 drive?

managed to get it working again , I had not removed IONVMEFAMILY .... killed me for two days. Lesson Learnt now have hard drive clone.

@LukeR22 Darkwake=0 seemed to fix sleep.. I have also been experimenting with never hibernate under boot.

Now I seem to be having the occasional restart instead of shutdown..... even with fix shutdown, so working through that.

its all working quite well but still lots of restarts on shutdown. Still not getting the best Geekbench either but is working.

Just wondering if anyone with Designare z170x could show or tell me their Bios settings. @henrychic

Also What are people using for dark wake with this board.
