Hello, Apple SSUBX SSD looks really interesting to me.

What is model number of your ssd?
Do you use it as boot driver?
Does it work with native IONVMeFamily.kext?

SSUBX is the model. Yes, I was using it as my boot drive. It is natively recognized by macOS. You do not need to mess with any addition kexts to get it recognized.

Yes, that looks like the same one I used. I also bought mine from Ebay but, when I got it, prices were considerably lower.

If prices are about the same, I suggest you go with a Samsung SM951 AHCI instead of the SSUBX. They both perform identically. The reason is the SM951 won't need an adaptor to fit in an M.2 slot. SM951 AHCI is also natively recognized by macOS and won't need any additional kexts or any modifications. But be very careful when purchasing SM951s. There have been quite a few people who received NVMe versions of the SM951 rather than AHCI versions.

Here's how you can tell if an SM951 is AHCI or NVMe:

Note: Only the SSUBX comes in a 1TB version. SM951 AHCI tops out at 512GB.

Here's my build :D
Thank you so much for the great guide! This was my first ever build and it took me about 5 hours to complete, but I've probably already won about 3 hours in render time over the past two days ^^

I haven't overclocked it yet but would like to, I now have a geekbench score of 16xxx. I understand you used the Asus AI suite. So basically you booted to Windows used the suite to overclock and then booted to OS? It remembers these 'settings'? Sorry if I am asking weird questions but I have 0 experience in all this. I don't have a separate start up disk for Windows, would Bootcamp be an option?

Also, when booting I first see an Asus screen for a couple of seconds and then a (I think a clover) boot selection. They disappear after a few seconds but would it be possible to disable these screens and just instantly go in to OS?

Nice! Always happy to see another success story.

Which system were you using previously?

Yes, after you run the Asus AI Suite, it automatically saves the settings to Bios.

You need to boot in to Windows to run the AI Suite. It doesn't matter if Windows is installed on the same drive as macOS or on a separate drive.

Yes, you can adjust what appears during boot up in the Bios. But I leave mine as is so that I can easily access the Bios when needed. I don't think you can skip the Clover boot screen but you can adjust how long the time out is in Clover Configurator.

Apple changed the build number in macOS Sierra 10.12.1 yesterday. When I upgraded on the second day of the release, the build number was 16B2555. If you updated yesterday, you would get build number 16B2657. The newer build prevents the Nvidia web drivers from installing.

You can find a workaround here: Warning: 2 builds of macOS Sierra 10.12.1-Nvidia web drivers only work with 1 | tonymacx86.com
Thank you, pastrychef. I quoted you in my build descriptions and guides referring to their use of the new update and the web drivers.

Before I was on a mid 2012 macbook, which held up pretty well with HD footage but boy times have changed.
Tomorrow I'll give the overclocking a go, thanks for the info!

I don't think I'll be updating the OS anytime soon, as long as everything works I'm happy

hi guys.
i have noticed that, after upgrading to Sierra, I have sleep and wake no working anymore.
system goes to sleep but when I try to wake it up, display goes black and I need to force shutdown the system with power button.
I tried with darkwake=0,darkwake=8, I tried without overcloking (in the past with 3770k there was an issue with it for example).

I'm not sure but I think that with El Capitan I had sleep and wake working correctly.
what about you?
is it a Nvidia web driver issue perhaps?
