An Ebios read error is the result of hardware failure - or media failure

If your using IDE hard drive or IDE Media Drive (DVD) this is not supported by OSX SL

Also if that Snow Leopard DVD (SL) is bad or corrupt then you will get this error as well -

DO not USE a silver OSX 10.6 DVD these are not going to work as they are recovery DVD's. You need to have the RETAIL version
which is white w a picture of a Snow Leopard on it.

First off see if your BIOS supports AHCI HPET and S3 as mentioned in the install Guide above - these three settings are mandatory - with out them your not going to get it installed (SL).

If it does not then you can not install SL onto this hardware.

Update - Issues I see with this motherboard.

This MB has an Intel GMA 4500 chipset which is a problem for OSX SL - you will need to have a dedicated video card for this to work - suggest a nViDia GS8400 ( used would be cheaper) or a GT9400 / GT9500.

You will need to disable this onboard video in the BIOS.

Also this MB has issues w the sound hardware - Realtek ALC662 - this is not provided w our tools and you will need to use or find and alternative kect like Voodoo for a sound driver.

Network - no idea but most of the time they were intel. So you maybe able to get this to work.

You also neglected to tell us what CPU you have - if its a Pentium then no way will this work you need at least a Core 2 Duo CPU.

My suggestion is to install Windows and keep it that way, the hardware is a little to old for Snow Leopard but if you still want to do this then you can use Leopard 10.5 which you will need to find to install as we do not have or support Leopard 10.5 in the forums or w the tools we have.

Come to find out the keyboard I was using caused the problem...

Also I did purchase the snow leopard dvd from apple and also ilife.

Hi! had the same mobo as you do. First, set your your BIOS to enable the ff:

1. On the Advanced menu/Cpu configuration: Enable speedstep, No-execute Memory Protection (this is impt or osx won't boot); Disable Enhanced Halt State.
2. On the Advanced menu/ACPI Configuration enable Suspend to Ram and ACPI HPET Table.
3. On the Advanced menu/Storage configuration, set ATA/IDE Configuration to Enhanced.
4. Disable floppy and superIO configuration.

I tested this mobo with Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion. Installed the latest updates and all were running smoothly and had no probs.Even Windows 8. Currently its running in ML 10.8.4.

Finally you may create a patched DSDT using DSDT Editor and be sure to add the following fixes:
1. Method DTGP
2. Other common fixes and hacks (i.e. RTC, CPU aliases, etc.
3. Be sure to add the Shutdown fix.

Hope that helps.
