OS X 10.11.6 Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi,

Recently updated to 10.11.6.

Initially everything seemed fine, but after a couple of restarts it seems like I'm stuck at the login screen.

Every time I enter the password the screen goes black for a moment and then just displays the login screen again.

Tried different boot flags (-x -v -nv_disable=1) but the result is the same all the time.

Need some help to get unstuck.

Thanks

Worth a read, answer fixed my issue of stalled white startup screen.

Did anyone else have a problem with their Ethernet interface? Mine is reporting cable not attached (the cable is fine).

GA-H170M-D3H
Intel GbE LAN chip

Yes, I had this prob too with Marvell 88E8056.
The solution is: Change the system configuration in clover or KextWizard to iMac 10,1.
I had before MacPro 3,1 which caused that problem. And it occurs to real Macs too.

...overwrite Nvidia Web Driver 346.03.15f03 (which was working before security update), with the old beta WebDriver-346.03.15b01.pkg.

This fixed my issue with GTX 950.
Hmm, got "Mac OS X version is not compatible" - did try updating via NVIDIA Driver Manager to their latest for Sierra, still no luck, stuck with OS X default.

New Security Update 25th October and Safari running OSX 10.11.6....... Think I will wait a week for someone else to check it out on a Nvidia GTX 950!! Currently on (15G1110) before update.

Did you try overwriting Nvidia Driver with the old Beta 346.03.15b01.pkg?

my issue isnt video. its NVMe which hasnt been updated yet https://github.com/RehabMan/patch-nvme

time machine and usb 3 is a wonderful thing. 400gb in about 90min.... its a shame time machine cant do "delta" restores and just restore those files modified after the selected restore point oh well. unintentional defrag i guess

Well took the leap of installing the Security Update and found the old Nvidia beta driver 346.03.15b01.pkg still works after security update.

Then overwrote it with the NEW 25th October Nvidia driver 346.03.15f04.pkg for OSX 10.11.6 build (15G1108) and it works fine on GTX 950.
