Direct Update to macOS Sierra using Clover

Just a minor correction. tonymacx86 wrote the guide; I write the backup first procedure (Post #2). Nevertheless, we appreciate your gratitude.

You guys and everyone on these forums are awesome, makes this hobby almost fun when it's upgrade time.

I tried your suggestion and checked out that thread about the graphics drivers. Tony posted some code which I attempted to put in my config.plist, but there was no change (I could have totally put it in wrong though... smh) Hopefully Clover Configurator will be updated to address this issue in the next few days. /fingers crossed. Until then, I'll stick to El Cap or run macOS native drivers.

Be sure to remove the nvda_drv=1 in the config.plist's Boot Arguments section.

Yeah, I didn't have nvda_drv=1 in my config.list at all (which is a little weird... but anyhow...)

So Clover Configurator has been updated to create the NvidiaWeb key per Tonymac's post you linked to, but unfortunately that had no effect, still losing signal just before login. Could one of the Clover graphics options be the problem?

How do I know if I need "any other extra necessary kexts"?
have you ever installed any version of OS X ...just like el capitan .... if So use all of the kexts form this install ...

Thank you all for the excellent guides and software that makes this all possible.
I have successfully upgraded from ElCapitan to Sierra with no problems except one, that I haven't seen posted before: my audio seems to work fine online and in some apps, but when I play music from iTunes, the audio cuts out after several seconds. The only way to restore the sound is to re-select the output device in System Pref.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can't even get to first base with Sierra. I've been running El Capitan just fine. I've tried USB install, HD install and the method at the start of this thread. It won't even boot into the install screen. I've tried several SMBIOS defs like 14.2 but am currently using 17.1.
Tried different boot flags like nv_disable=1 in Clover but it makes no difference. Tried generic config.plist as well as the El Capitan one to no avail. Attached is the crash screen. Any ideas of where to go next?

System on 10.11.6
MSI Z170A Krait Gaming (Skylake)
i5 6500
GTX 260 ( no web driver)

Update ... I was able to boot the installer using HD530 internal graphics but it crashes on the reboot to finish the install. Which I suppose is the same place when I installed Sierra from El Capitan. There is a known issue with Sierra and the HD530 so I switched back to my GTX 260 but got nowhere.
So the problem seems to definitely be graphics.
When trying the HD530 gphx i set via Clover Inject Intel instead of inject Nvidia. Is there a better way to do config.plist with the HD530?
Using the spacebar and doing nv_disable=1 doesn't work ... any ideas here. Also my card isn't on the web driver list

any ideas on what to try next other than waiting for some fixes?

Instructions worked perfectly. Thanks, tonymacx86!

Be nice, arachule. It was a legitimate question.

EddyMac, I only used FakeSMC and the appropriate Ethernet driver/kext. You may need the USB kexts, too, but try them only if your USB ports can not discover the USB thumb drive installer. Be sure to boot the installer w/o caches.

Now, see arachule, that wasn't hard was it? (Rhetorical question.)
