I do a lot of music recording but I'm having issues with my firewire card being recognized by Mavericks 10.9.5. Here are my specs and this is what's happening...

GA z97x gaming 3 motherboard
i7 4790k
GTX 660
32 GB Ripjaws 1600 DDR3
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO
Noctua NH U14S

I'm trying to connect my LaCie 500GB d2

Here's the kicker. If I install Multibeast with System Definitions as "3.1 Mac Pro," the firewire card is read by the mac but doesn't seem to work and my mac doesn't see any hard drive connected to it. BUT if I build System Definitions with Multibeast with "6.1 Mac Pro," it DOES work BUT I lose all sleep functions and my mac doesn't shut down and it freezes probably once a day and is very glitchy and not too stable. Everything just keeps running at shutdown and sleep. Can anyone help me out on this? I've also tried installing every combination of System Definitions and nothing seems to work.

Attached are four screenshots of my terminal to see what's going on. I'm not an expert at this so I was wondering if someone has any insight to the problem.

The first image is of 6.1 Mac Pro installed with power saver turned off

The second is of 3.1 Mac Pro installed with power saver turned off

I'm gonna poke around to see what else I can find out.

Oh and by the way, I know you recommended an install before using clover. It seems to work a little better. I'm going to be playing around with different configurations as well to see what works and what doesn't.

There are some slight differences. Such as my memory is only read as 1333 with the clover install instead of 1600 and I can not change my system definition with multibeast. And sleep and shutdown functions are still not working. The LaCie d2 works perfectly though. So it seems like an either or situation. d2 not working or sleep and shutdown functions not working or the other way around. I think I'm going to work on the sleep and **** down working. Do you have any other links on that?

I ran the "pmset -g assertions" as it said to in that other link you sent but it shows nothing keeping the mac awake.

Hi. I just picked up a PCI Firewire card and I'm also having problems getting it recognized. When I enable "FixFirewire" in my config.plist, the PCI card is seen in System Information but it also reports that "No Firewire Ports were found".

Im no hackintosh expert but try out the system definitions. Mine ended up working right out of the box but like I said above, my sleep and shutdown doesn't work. I'm still working on that bug. Which FireWire card did you get? I read up a lot of stuff and I went with the startech. Here's a link.

Ah. I see that you are using a PCI-e card. I am testing on an older HP Elite 8300 which had an open PCI slot and decided to pick up a cheap card that I found on Ebay for $6.50. lol

I will experiment a bit with different system definitions. Thanks for your input.

I can also confirm the startech Firewire card works, using one for my Presonus Firestudio Audio Interface. No hiccups
