Thanks everyone who has, over the weeks, given me some great advice for my first build, here is the final list I have come up with, I will be buying on monday, so any final warnings, or pieces of advice would be greatly appreciated.

The idea was to go for a silent build, that could handle thunderbolt (I have a UAD apollo audio interface)
  • Fractal Design R5
  • Gigabyte z170x UP5 TH
  • Intel i7 6700k
  • 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX
  • Noctua U12s CPU cooler
  • Noctua NF A14 fan (For back of case, moving the Fractal stock fan to the front for two fans at the front)
  • Be Quiet Straight power 10 500w PSU
  • ASUS Strix GTX960 (Running 3 screens, not gaming at all really, well, I may dabble....)
  • Sandisk 480gb System drive
  • Startech Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt adapter
various SSD and 7200HDD drives already owned.

Anything glaringly obvious I am doing wrong?

I have a couple of questions as well,
  1. I have an apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse, I am assuming I wont be able to use these at the bios screen etc, so should I get a USB keyboard and mouse, or, will an RF Logitech Keyboard and Mouse work?
  2. I am not overclocking my CPU, do I really need to generate an SSDT, as I understand I will have multiple states, just more if I do, will this really be an advantage for me as an audio engineer? - I am not sure I understand this whole issue anyway (I have read through other posts on here)
Again, thanks to everyone who has helped me come to this final configuration, its really very much appreciated.

No.

Logitech Unifying receiver stuff works.

There are pre-made SSDT files for most (all?) of the Skylake CPUs here.

I've been using the Logitech K750 for Mac keyboard for years. It uses the Unifying receiver, and I use it to get into the BIOS and manipulate the cursor in the BIOS. I also like the feel of the keys - I'm a touch typist.

I found a great deal on a Logitech mouse that uses Unifying receiver for $5 and use that for bios, Windows, and Linux. For macOS, I use Magic Mouse 2. I was never able to make it work reliably in Windows or Linux.

I have an old school USB mechanical keyboard so no problems there.

I would be very interested in hearing how the Apollo (have Twin Duo myself) fares on your new computer. Good luck with the build! :)
I have literally just placed my order, as soon as I have the build up and running I'll post my (hopefully) success story, and I'll paste a link for it here as well in case you miss it!
