Yes. keep everything original. Just the metal back panel was exchanged by this handmade.

The mod was fully finished and working since october 13th. I'll post more images and the final steps soon. :)

Last Steps!

After I fixed the back panel, fixed the motherboard in the case, put the power supply in place, did the front panel rework I was able to finish this simple mod project.

The picture below is a little preliminary (shows the HDD not placed corretly). But the "layout" changed little since this photo. I'm planning to do a better organisation of cables and other adjustments.

I'm not using the whitish plastic between the case door and the motherboard. It's very hard to cut it, so I give up trying to make holes on it.

The homemade back plate appears in the photos below.

From inside:

From outside. All plastics pieces in place. Nothing was cut:

Case closed finally!
Then I installed OSX El Capitan, plugged a dell U2515H monitor, keyboard, mouse. The end. :headbang:

Very nice!

@isaintor: Looks like the standard Apple white keyboard before the aluminium model was introduced.

It's an old apple keyboard. I think its from the powemac cube generation. Its beautiful, but hard to use. The new ones are much better. I definitely need to buy one.

Holy crap that looks good! I have an old G4 QuickSilver lying around somewhere. Would be great to do a mod like this on it. Your solution to the back looks simple and clean too. But I would definitely try to get it water cooled. Have you thought about it? Maybe a small closed loop system?

thanks

Not perfect inside. But outside.. it pretends very well. :)

water cooling probably will prevent any possible temp problem. But it depends of how much space will take.

I'm not familiar with water cooling, so I used just fans.

Quicksilver is beautiful. A little harder to change. But there are many successful examples in the forum. Take special attention with the Power Supply. Sawtooth receives the Corsair PS without any mod. But quicksilver maybe a different.

This is the 2003-2007 Apple Keyboard (model A1048) that would have shipped with late MDD G4s up through early Mac Pros, as well as whatever iMacs they were selling in that era like G4- early intel models.
The keyboard that this G4 shipped with would have been an Apple Pro Keyboard with black keys.
