To cut a long story short, my first pc was a hackintosh. To complete the look of a mac i bought a used ACD which came with a 2002 G4 quicksilver for free. The case did nothing and sat about for a few years until i came across a cheap motherboard on gumtree and decided to try fit it into my g4.
I have never did anything like this before, never used a dremmel or a power drill or any form of pc case modding, but thought I would make it up as I went and so didnt plan anything. The whole project took me about a week from start to finish, rushed in many places but I learned a lot. I used a Laser Hive kit and although it was intimidating at first, as i tackled each step it was pretty straight forward. Unfortunately I didn't take many photos of the process.
The finished build.
Started by cutting a front fan hole, as the case is very limited for airflow.
My uneducated attempts at cutting. the middle area is where i want to mount my 2 ssds, one on top of each other, and thats why i left that section.
test fitting my fan, not the best job but my first ever time cutting a fan hole with a dremel, and the g4 steel is pretty tough!
Front panel cut, not the tidiest of jobs but not as bad as i thought it would turn out.
Front panel with the aluminium mesh and a silver switch, which i later changed for a black one when i decided to paint the case. Initially i was going to leave it all stock.
Case painted matt black.
Painting the side panels and handles a graphite grey.
Starting to fit everything into the case. The paint job is rushed and I ran out of black paint.
But needed to get it done for starting university, so only budgeted a week to do it all.
Everything installed. Its a tight fit.
and finally with my rgb leds installed.
Need to order a set of braided cables so i can sort the horrific cable management,
but even since this photo ive done a much better job of cable tying everything down and between the fans. Still have to sort out my front io, as i have a 3.5 inch akasa front io i want to incoorporate into the optical slot but not sure how to mount it.
