Audio People: SL vs. Lion & Z68 vs. Z77 for a DAW?

    ...don't know about PT but Logic 9.1.7 is running smooth & stable on my rig GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 + i7-2700K + G.Skill RipjawsX F3-10666CL9Q-32GBXL 4x8GB on both 10.6.8 and 10.7.4

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 : Onboard Firewire doesn't work :(

unfortunately without success so far :( Routing for FW is different on the Z68 boards, so the fix that helped on EP45 doesn't work here... Im still trying to figure it out, but "normal" life won't let me spend much time with hacking these days. I'm still wondering why it works OOB on my rig...

Unable to run 10.6.8 on sandy bridge

when you would read my posts carefully you'll maybe understand what i'm talking about :banghead:

Unable to run 10.6.8 on sandy bridge

As long as as you don't prove me wrong i say your "natural" PM for 2500K isn't working right or not at all. That would be reason enough for me...

    SICK OF LION!

i meant both... usually you'll only find CPU declarations in DSDT, their PM is defined in SSDT Just for comparision... Core2Duo E8600 @ stock 3,33GHZ / geekbench around 4800 my i7-2700K @ stock 3,5GHz / geekbench 12300 and when turbo kicks in... if oc'ed to 4,5GHZ :headbang:

    SICK OF LION!

my guess would be that because of wrong patched ssdt and/or wrong smbios and other reasons your cpu is locked on the lowest multiplier... hard to believe that a core2duo runs faster than a right setup with an i7-2500

Unable to run 10.6.8 on sandy bridge

You are using a MacPro5.1 as model identifier in smbios.plist !!! Apple_SMC_Platform...blah and TYMCE.driver call panic because your CPU doesn't match , only iMac & MacBookPro support SB CPUs so far, so change it to iMac12.1 or 12.2, that's the closest to your hardware !! ...or stay...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 : Onboard Firewire doesn't work :(

Sorry, i can't explain it, i'm not a programmer ! I only know that we can get rid of this error by using the right method in DSDT ( credits to all those who had the original idea for it and shared it ). On EP45 mobos fw-devices only showed up when they were 1. plugged in after complete booting...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 : Onboard Firewire doesn't work :(

So, finally i finished my build with the following specs GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Rev1.3 Bios F11 i7-2700K Onboard HD3000 so far... 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws CL9 I spent the whole day to edit the DSDT for the F11-Bios ( extracted with Ubuntu Live ) and have it running now with user-dsdt and just FakeSmc...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 : Onboard Firewire doesn't work :(

Nice to have an OOB FW and pay some bucks for it... Even better to have onboard FW without paying additional bucks AND learn sth about your gadget... "wake from sleep" is AFAIK related to a RuntimeConservationError and that can be fixed via DSDT !!! ( see my previous post ) "If at first an...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 : Onboard Firewire doesn't work :(

That's kind of strange. Could you please double check again your board please. Wich Rev is it ? Wich Bios ? DSDT from this sites database ? Could you please attach an ioreg.zip of your device tree ? I'd like to know where the driver is located. Thx
