Thanks for the clarification. I will definitely do so: it's interesting because I haven't noticed any problems with these ports being unconfigured, despite the fact that I'm using almost all of these ports except one of the internal headers (hence why I'm trying to expand).
Thanks for your response! I'm taking this as a good thing that it's not going to put me over my maximum. Pardon my ignorance on this, but practically speaking, how does their configurability affect how I can use them? I assume it probably affects power you can expect to draw from it but...
I’m running a stable Clover / High Sierra build and I don’t want to mess it up. I’m trying to use my front expansion bay to install a hub, something like this: https://www.newegg.com/p/0J2-00G6-00042
On a Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H will this plug and play or am I playing with fire? I’ve poked around...
Update:
Entered terminal from recovery drive, followed instructions here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/how-do-i-remove-evoreboot-kext.174325/
Successfully booted to desktop in safe mode. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks!
Reinstalled El Capitan from USB. The *installer* works, and appears to complete, however when booting from the hard drive, the panic now happens in a different spot:
with Safe mode, or with "ignore cache and injected kexts", it appears to be an issue with EvOreboot (is it 0 or O?)
I can't get to my desktop when I boot via USB: I can only reach the El Capitan Installer (which is on the same USB stick as Clover. When I select my hard drive I end up in the reboot loop.
I was only able to boot up Yosemite from this Clover USB. I thought I had set it up so that I could...
Booting from a Clover USB: installed El Capitan over my previously functioning Chimera / Yosemite hard drive. BIOS remains unchanged from my previous successful install.
My El Capitan Install USB functions fine. However when booting from my OSX drive post-install, I encounter a reboot loop.
It...
Did a complete reinstall, and after migration assistant (minus "system settings" so as to not potentially load whatever bad kexts I had before), my files seem to be in order and gray screen error is gone.
NOW, I have a host of new issues, which I can only imagine arose out of the screwed up...
That got it up to the login screen at least but it only beach balls after I type my password
It will boot from the install disk.
Unless anyone has any brilliant ideas, I'm just going to do a complete reinstall.
nope. Gray screen no cursor now.
maybe I'm not explaining my problem clearly enough. This gray screen occurs after the -v text is done scrolling, at about the time I would normally be sent to the login screen.
I've already been doing all of those things from the beginning....hence why I had a stable system in the first place.
dart=0 shouldn't be necessary as I have VTd disabled in bios
Anyone else?? I'm dying to know why a system which runs perfectly fine one day will suddenly completely shut me out the next, when I have changed nothing. Auto update is not on so it did not install anything behind my back. No peripherals are plugged in or on. Windows runs fine.
I tried...
I was able to boot it up in safe mode. Tried the DCPI utility as described but same results every time. Gray screen with movable cursor but no other sign of life.
