Please recommend a compatible PC to buy

Thanks for this reply. I am looking at the HP 8300's. So, this would be reasonable? www.amazon.com/HP-Elite-8300-Professional-Refurbished/dp/B076D71Q4L I would then get a low-profile video card, so I could use my HDMI monitor. This would be a low-stress MacOS install? Thanks again for the help.

Please recommend a compatible PC to buy

I'm looking for advice for an already-built PC that will be an easy MacOS install - for around $500. Am currently running a Mac mini (late 2012 2.3GHz i7). I use the machine to: 1. Keep track of our 100,000+ 1Tb photo collection 2. Play music from a large (500Gb) music folder 3. Watch...

Build a Hack Mini or buy an Intel NUC?

I need to replace my aging Mac Mini (about 5 years old). I use it for photo management, music, programming, etc. - no gaming. I was thinking of this build: Skylake Mac Mini Hackintosh vs. buying a Mac OS compatible Intel NUC, such as the Intel NUC Kit NUC5i7RYH. Thoughts about build vs. buy? I...

Which PCI-e NIC to get for 10.8 (Presto or HP-dual)?

This worked like a charm. No KEXT needed. Ethernet has not dropped once since I put it in.

Thanks. Ordered the Presto from Amazon - will come tonight, and I'll try it out.

Which PCI-e NIC to get for 10.8 (Presto or HP-dual)?

The ethernet port on my Dell XPS 8300 is flaky. It craps out every day or so, and I have to restart. I has done this for a long time, and I've just lived with it. It did this under 10.7 and now under a fresh install of 10.8. I'd like to install a PCI-e NIC. The compatibility database here...

    Dell XPS 8300 upgrade: Success

My UniBeast boots, gets past the apple logo, and stalls at the white screen. Mouse works. I don't see any obvious errors in verbose mode. I've tried all the suggestions I could find.

Fresh installation of Mountain Lion or upgrade from Lion?

Will it be possible to upgrade form 10.7.x to 10.8? Or will a fresh install of 10.8 be required? What will the upgrade path be (if there is one)? Won't one still have to create a hackintosh bootable 10.8 installer first?

XPS 8300 keeps dropping network connection

I had a pretty uneventful Lion install on my Dell XPS8300 i7-2600. In fact, most things worked out of the box, including the network. I'm still booting from the USB stick (Unibeast). Every few days, the network connection will drop. Nothing I do will get it back except a reboot. When I have...

MoBo died. Need advice to replace - LGA-775/Quad4Core

I have a new hack - a Dell XPS8300, which I love. In the process of shuffling some other components around, I seemed to have killed my old motherboard. For the last three years, my hack was a GA-EP45-UD3P / Q6600 / 9800GTX - it was quite stable. The current symptoms are that the power comes on...

    Advice: Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz Quad-Core SB, HD6450

This is on sale at Dell for $699. It seems like it would be hard to build for less. I see some scattered reports of getting the XPS 8300 to work under Lion. Any thoughts about this specific machine? http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1135998/
