    Thanks for your reply UtterDisbelief! It's definitely #2 - and the crackling gets worse the higher I increase the volume. I am using AppleALC - not using Voodoo or ALC1220

    in case somebody has the same issue I resolved with: on Clover GUI, press F11 boot into the OS with nv_disable=1. uninstall the driver (from System Preferences) REBOOT on reboot, you shouldn't need to add nv_disable to boot, since there is no "NV" driver to boot in the first place. install...
