Hahaha Yes, I read it. I guess I should have my Catalina SSD removed phisically when re- installing Windows?
Would that have worked?
Would this be a work around? I have my Windows installation backed-up on a USB3 external case (I've been a good boy after all). Could I format the Windows...
This is the EFI in my Catalina SSD. There's no EFI in the Windows SSD.
Apparently, the only difference between this EFI and the one in my Catalina Install Flash Drive is the Microsoft folder.
I have the Catalina USB Install Disk and is indeed what I am currently using to access a Bootpicker where I can access OS Catalina, which is what I'm using at the moment.
Oh god! You're right!
I'm checking the EFI on my Catalina SSD and there's a folder called Microsoft!
Unluckily 0.6.6 hasn't...
I only see the Windows Boot, both when pressing F12 and in BIOS Setup/Boot...
This Windows install was done after installing Catalina, but I don't remember this issue coming right when I installed Windows. I think it was after I reset NVRAM, but to be honest, I'm not 100% sure.
@CaseySJ thanks for your answer!
With SecureBootModel set to default, I'm getting the same errors.
With it set to disabled, installation seem to go past the bunch of tx_flush it used to get stuck, but enden up on another tx-flush...
May I totally change subjects and ask you about some other...
Here it is.
You'll notice SecureBootModel is set to disabled.
If I change SecureBootModel to default, instead of hanging at the spot where I took pictures, it shows this error messages and goes back to Bootpicker:
OCSB: No suitable signature - Security Violation
OCB: Apple Secure Boot...
Hey @CaseySJ ! Sorry to bug you again...
As I was sayin last time I started typing, I'm growing a tiny bit of confidence so decided to experiment and see if I can make BT and Wifi work, so I've been trying with 0.6.6 from the *** Using Intel WiFi 6 and Intel Bluetooth 5 on Z490 Vision D ***...
Hey @CaseySJ!
Once I succesfully set up my bootable backup I grew enough confidence to update to 0.6.6 and see if I can manage to get Wifi and BT working.
However, I'm on a multiboot system and when I Reset NVRAM, next boot goes directly to a Windows boot.
You adressed the issue but I can't...
Been further testing, looking for a solution that works on OS and Windows with same BIOS settings.
VCore settings from Tech Talk didin't help with temps going to 100 degrees at all.
I found a way of getting better performance and better temps, on OS and Win than with the Per Core Limit...
So now I'm noticing the changes I made in BIOS somehow don't reflect when running OS Catalina.
Cinebench R23 score was 12264 but temps ramped up to 100 degrees, so I guess this is where VCore settings play their role...
The only way I found this far to get similar results in OS to what I...
Been further testing. With Turbo Boost disabled but Turbo Boost Max enabled I got better temp results compared to both Disabled, with no signifcant performance loss.
All Cinebench is run on Win 10
Both disabled:
Cinebench R23 Multi core 7842 at 65 degrees
Cinebench R23 Single core 787 at 58...
I followed this guidelines and temps still got to 100 degrees when running Cinebench R23 Multicore, for a 11794 score.
With Turbo Boost and Turbo Boost Max disabled, score was 7842 but temps were 65 degrees.
I guess I'll have to live with that lower performance for the time being.
Anyway, I...
