    Catalina Install Problem

I appreciate all the help you've provided so far. Can you point me in the right direction as to the proper order to troubleshoot these hardware/driver issues as well as any other performance tuning? The first thing I was attacking was my ethernet driver. I'm loosing internet connectivity...

    Fresh Catalina Install on NUC5i5RYH

Problem 2: Ethernet issues seem to arise after periods of inactivity/sleep. Reboot seems to resolve the problems temporarily. (status: not fixed) Problem 3: When my video does not work, System Report shows "no kext loaded", but when it does work, it does not show which kext it is using. On my...

    Fresh Catalina Install on NUC5i5RYH

Attached is my original config.plist that was pulled from my previously working EFI partition. I'm hesitant to copy this over to the new EFI partition, as I'm not sure it was 100% right either. I'm hoping to understand what I'm doing better than I have in the past to optimize this install.

    Fresh Catalina Install on NUC5i5RYH

I've started out with Sierra on this hardware several years ago and made it all the way to 10.15.1 without any major problems. I was having some buggy issues, as well as not being able to successfully upgrade to 10.15.2, so I decided it was time for a clean install. I'm a hackintosh noob ;-)...

    Catalina Install Problem

UniBeast did exactly that. Once done, I was attempting to install kexts onto my system EFI partition. Nowhere in the instructions here did it say to put them on the USB EFI partition and transplant them over (that I saw at least). Based on my experience, that may have worked because it seemed...

    Catalina Install Problem

I ended up getting a *mostly* working bootable Catalina on this hardware. I ended up starting the whole process from scratch, ended up in the same position where MultiBeast failed. I read through the troubleshooting information and found a link that explained that in Catalina, the security...

UniBeast: Install macOS Catalina on Any Supported Intel-based PC

One suggestion for the original post: I had numerous problems with MultiBeast, and I finally figured out the solution. My root partition was not read/write. MultiBeast kept failing, and I couldn't figure out why. The answer was in this link which was in the troubleshooting section. From...

    Catalina Install Problem

Ok, progress. I kept experimenting to the point where it wouldn't even give much of a verbose output, so I rebuilt the USB drive using UniBeast. After doing so, it made it through the install with no problems. I'm stuck again though... now, I can't get MultiBeast to save to my new Catalina...

    Catalina Install Problem

Tried disabling all kexts with the exception of the two you recommended in the boot options. Had the same result. The verbose logs show: AppleBusPowerController::requestStaticServicePowerLocked: power supply unavailable, assuming successful power for HS07 of 500 mWWakePower and 0 mWSleepPower...

    Catalina Install Problem

Also, the main reason I think it could be a kext problem is because the hardware boots fine with my existing install, but that may be a bad assumption

    Catalina Install Problem

When you say get rid of all the kexts except those two, do you mean delete them or just disable them in the boot options?

    Catalina Install Problem

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I just came across this debug log on my USB boot EFI partition. These are the last several lines prior to the end of the file: 81:530 0:029 Beginning FSInjection 81:575 0:045 Use origin smbios table type 1 guid. 81:607 0:032 Preparing kexts injection...

    Catalina Install Problem

Hey guys. Trying to do a clean install of the latest Catalina build on my NUC5i5RYH. I'm currently running 10.15.1 and can't update to 10.15.2 for some reason. The update never takes. Because of that, and a couple other strange issues I've been having lately, I wanted to do a clean install...

Scratch Install - What to backup

I'll check into that. I went ahead and did a time machine backup as well. If anyone has a better method to backup the user data without backing up system files/applications/settings/etc., I'm all ears.

Scratch Install - What to backup

Hi, Been using both Mac and Hac systems for a couple years now. My Hac desktop running Catalina 10.15 has been acting really buggy lately - it seems to be something with the bluetooth. I'm not sure if it was an installation gone wrong or something else. My thoughts were to completely...
