Ah, sorry. I thought as the thread already contained some 9370 discussions and it should be pretty similar to 9360, this was the place to go. I'll do that!
Hi everyone! Really appreciate everyones work on the XPS line :).
I haven't been following the thread closely, but read bits and pieces. I'm thinking of trying to get a 9370 up and running as a hackintosh, can someone get me up to date on the current status? As I understand it, the current...
You don't have to unmount the motherboard. The "door" with the on/reset/usb on it has a 2.5" rack factory mounted on it (some plastic grid), at least mine did. Just mount the SSD:s to the door itself in that rack, connect the cables and let them run behind the motherboard and close it, and...
Thank you! :)
Well, the case was quite tight to work with, but I love the look of it and overall everything could fit pretty well. The feet / handles could have been more sturdy, and it's a bit wide (I saw someone that moved the motherboard plate to the middle of the case, still had room for...
Hi there! And thank you, glad you enjoyed it :).
Yes, two monitors from the same card works nicely, I have tried hooking up a monitor to the DVI port and my old iMac in Target Display Mode to the DP port, and that worked without issues. I haven't tried three or more monitors on one card though...
I got MSI 280x Gaming for my hackintosh (two of them, in fact), and they worked great OOB. Recognized by OS X, QE/CI working, not a single bug / hiccup.. So not sure why MSI wouldn't work, worked great for me.
How did you manage that? Which card (manufacturer / model)? I have a 290x and have tried everything, but it seems OS X just doesn't have drivers for the Hawaii chipset in the 290x cards, or at least so I thought. Any information on how you got them working would be appriciated, everyone I heard...
That's quite odd. I have an Asus R9 290X DirectCU II card in my hackintosh, together with a 280X. I use the 280X for the displays in OS X, but when I check System Information the 290X is just marked as "Unknown". From what I can tell there is no Hawaii support at all in the current AMD drivers...
Thanks for reporting back, interesting to know how it worked out for you. While not a super silent build, I can't say that my build is noisy (water cooled cpu and very quiet noctua fans), and I can't tell any difference in noise idling in windows or OS X, fan noise from the GPU's seems the same...
No work, they were recognized as D700 and fully functional on the first boot. (or, on the first boot QE/CI didn't work, but next reboot they did and has ever since - not sure why that is).
No, my 290X is entirely silent when booting into OS X, not using power/producting any heat (not more than an idle card in windows would anyway, I didn't measure it directly).
I have, however, heard other people that have the 100%-fan issue you're describing with unsupported cards, so I'm not...
I used 2x 280x in my build, MSI Radeon 280X Gaming. They worked great out of the box - just installed them and booted up and everything worked flawlessly.
Crossfire does currently _not_ work (ie, games only use one card), but for OpenCL stuff like FCPX you should get the full benefit of both...
