It sounds more like a video card issue to me - as the EP45-UD3P is pretty rock solid for a cidertosh. =). What video card do you have installed? I had similar issues with a 4XX card - so I swapped it out for a 280 and never looked back.

Make sure the HDD you want to install is on port0, the ports should be AHCI, and that the HDD is 2TB or smaller. When doing a clean install - I always use Darik's Boot and Nuke utility CD to wipe the drive clean before install a fresh OS. But that's just me. Dirty install worked on one...

dirty install !0 clean install That is to say, a clean install is when you format or erase your hard drive and start from scratch. A dirty install is when you install the OS on top of the older OS (Mav over ML) without formatting or erasing the old data. Hope that helps.

To be honest - the only thing necessary to run multibeast after a dirty install was the FakeSMC install (new version), and the boot loader (new version). I was just being anal by reinstalling the other drivers.
