    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I was able to get my backup of Catalina to boot. So yay for that. I made the installer USB drive but the issue I'm having (maybe) is on how to actually install OpenCore. I got the OpenCore zip file, unpacked it and put the files in a “BOOT” folder in the EFI partition. Not sure what I need to do...

    Clover Update now non bootable

This helped out a bit. I was able to get my backup to load to Catalina. It’s strange though there’s no option to boot to the main drive data… I have a feeling that the OS installation thing ran before this happened and I didn’t realize it. Im going to clone the backup to the main drive and see...

Hey, is there a guide for this build to upgrade to Big Sur? I tried using the generic guide and failed miserably. (At this point I'd be happy just getting back into catalina, which will be tonight's project since my bootable backup decided to no longer be bootable.)

    Clover Update now non bootable

Thank you for the reply. Is there a particular version that works better/best. And is there a good walk thru to make the change over? Im not sure how I’ll be able to access the efi without being able to boot into anything. Thanks.

    Clover Update now non bootable

I guess I made a reallly big mistake. I was preparing to try to update to Big Sur from catalina. I Updated my clover installation to the latest. (clover had the option in the tray menu). I needed to reboot and forgot I had updated clover. Now I just get stuck at the clover boot screen. Any...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Its a LACiE Drive which is what I used to store the initial "first" backup of the machine when I started with it on Mojave. It is using a TB2 to 3 adapter, but its always worked. I can still get into it if I need to via USB, but I was planning on picking up a TB device for the studio soon. So...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the "no drivers" thing which is why I didn't notice it when I originally re did the OS. I plugged in my backup drive the other day, and it powers up but no disk mounts. I don't see it as unmounted either.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Greetings! Been a while. I recently updated my machine to Catalina (first time i failed miserably, second time went without a hitch!) However, at the time I didn't notice it, but I seemed to have lost Thunderbolt functionality. Should I flash the BIOS with the enable Thunderbolt version, or...

    Perhaps someone can explain this

ok so i decided to reinstall on the imac. I got a completely different drive, formatted it. I went on my 2009 mac pro thats sitting in my garage to make the bootable stick. I re-downloaded the installer from the apple website. I even checked the EFI to see if there was anything in there...

    Perhaps someone can explain this

It's my iMac that im giving away to someone. This machine hasnt been turned on in probably over a year (way before i started my hack project) The only hack i put together was for mojave and nothing touched this machine. Perhaps someone can explain this

I have an old 2007 iMac (core 2 duo) that someone asked me to install el Capitan on. I downloaded the installation file as per the apple website. I followed the instructions on the apple website to create the bootable flash drive to install from. I reboot the machine, erase the internal HD on...

Loading KEXT for WIFI onto a real mac

Thanks. I just read that the catalina thing about loading 3rd party kexts wasn't true and was a miscommunication... hmm. Gonna see if it will accept the kext tonight. Thanks for the feedback.

Loading KEXT for WIFI onto a real mac

I have a mac pro 2009 thats running Mojave. I recently built a hackintosh to replace this machine and planned on using the old box as a back up for studio work. I was able to install and use with no problem the ubit AX200 wifi/bluetooth pcie card. However, when i tried to install the same...
