[Success] WORKING Intel Wifi Drivers for 7265AC on Catalina

Ploddles, Yes, running Catalina 10.15. shuhung, I never purposely replaced IO80211Family with the older version. Not sure how the version for 10.14 got installed... Unfortunately, I corrupted my install over the weekend and had to start over. I do have a working Broadcom WIFI card and was...

[Success] WORKING Intel Wifi Drivers for 7265AC on Catalina

So are you saying in terminal you need to CD to the folder where the kext is first then run kextload? EDIT: I'm still getting the following error from kextload. sneitzel@iMac tmp % sudo kextload *.kext /private/tmp/AppleIntelWifi.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the...

[Success] WORKING Intel Wifi Drivers for 7265AC on Catalina

I got it to load one time my new desktop machine. I logged into my WIFI network, browsed the internet and everything seemed fairly stable. After reboot, it will not load. I run the commands in terminal and get an error from the kextload step. It seems now it cannot find all of the needed...

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

Not having any luck whatsoever getting the installer to boot with Clover. I created a bootable USB following the guide and just cannot get to the installer. I flashed BIOS back to the default (non-whitelisted, removed my WIFI card), no luck there. Flashed the bios Viqsi provided (appeared to...

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

Thanks! I will give these a shot. Not sure why this laptop is giving me such a fit, I have had to fix my W510 many many times so I think I know what I'm doing. Another question, you are running a patched bios? Where did you get it? I am starting to wonder if the one I located has issues...

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

Hmmm, interesting. That is what has kept me from trying EC and Sierra, I thought those ports were a no go. Still trying to get the Clover installer to boot with graphics. Haven't found the right combo yet.

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

I was originally trying legacy mode (with mavericks) but am going to try clover. So in BIOS are you set to UEFI only? I just noticed this is an ElCapitan thread, are you running EC?

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

I have a question Viqsi, I picked up an inexpensive W520 to play with. The W510 I have belongs to work, so the W520 will be mine to keep. I cannot for the life of me get the W520 to boot from the HD after Mavericks install. It will boot from USB, and I can use the USB installer as a helper drive...

Does a Lenovo W510 make a good Hackintosh, after all?

Just now coming back to the hackintosh fold, thanks jafd for the response. I stuck with Mavericks on my W510 and it still functions very well for me. Interested to see your comments on the W520. I am looking to move up to a machine that will support the latest MacOS, do you think the W520 is...

    Lenovo W510 - Installation - El Capitan

Is that the standard Lenovo dock? I heard there were many issues with those docks and OSX.

    Lenovo W510 - Installation - El Capitan

I would suggest ditching the VooDooHDA kext and going with a properly patched AppleHDA kext. I cannot speak for EC, but in Mavericks I had many many problems with VooDoo that were solved by using the Apple kext.
