this is dope. I built a cube a few years ago and I've been thinking lately that I'd *love* to build one of these new ARM macs inside. I'm hoping to update mine in a few years using that ability- thanks for the info and pictures!

well the big thing with the Cube power switch is that it always needs power of some sort. I'm not sure how you'd be able to do that with the m1 mini- you might be able to siphon it off the USB, but it's hard to say.

sorry for the double post- can I ask where you got your board? I purchased one on Amazon and it's the same board, bu the USB functionality is missing. Bluetooth works just fine, but it doesn't show up anywhere on a computer for USB output.

this looks pretty great- quick question, when you say it works "through Bluetooth or directly through USB", do you mean you can use it as a USB speaker output? Or does it get power via USB and signal only through bluetooth? thanks!

Looks good! I always love a cube. Would you consider sharing any of the print files for the antennas or the screw offsets? I'd thought about swapping the power button around, but hadn't thought about printing offsets like that- great work!

The 27” is pretty much the same as the 24”, though it is 12ms response vs 14ms. I’m not sure that difference really merits much discussion, tbh. I think the speakers in the 27” are noticeably better, but still outdated by now. I’ve also seen a lot of the 24” models go bad in recent years...

I know there are two sizes of the arm- I think the 15 and 17 shared the same arm but I could be wrong on that. But they are all weighted very exactly; I picked up a 15" model that someone had added a touchscreen panel to and even that few ounces threw the arm off a fair bit. It's really up to...

It's going to be a lot harder to try and rig that switch with an actual Mac motherboard, since Apple doesn't play by the standards rules that exist on most BYO motherboards. It's not to say it's impossible, but it's very impractical at the very least.

Nice! I have a 6500T in my cube build and I've been pretty happy with it. Nice cool chip with a decent amount of power.

If I'm reading the wikipedia page correctly you should definitely be good with any of the kabylake chips.

a 7500t should be fine- what format is most of your media in? Anything of the past 2-3 generations should be strong enough for most things, though I don't know off the top of my head where h.265 support factors in or higher resolutions like 4k. But even at 4k I think you should be okay with a 7500t.
