My Hackintosh is struggling with a 2 year hibernation

I found two ways to handle dual BIOS. First - as Edhawk already mentioned - pressing F8 during power up should bring up some sort of screen where it should be able to switch. But I have never seen that myself, just repeating what the internet says... Second I found this: or google...

    Z87X Bios stupidity

With older Gigabyte boards (Z68X) I also had issues with recognition of DEL or F12, especially when using original Apple keyboards and/or certain USB ports. But changing ports usually helped. Not knowing if this could also have an effect, but have you considered changing the CMOS battery?

    Sonoma installing problem

I was stuck at that point as well and pulled my hair off fighting through all possible suggestions from the guide and finally solved by a rather simple and unexpected issue: When the OS wanted to take over there suddenly was no USB port to recognise. Workaround: Using a different USB port and...

    10gbit Cooling?

Ah you're right - still had the early fanless versions in mind. Interesting though how much heat those 10Gbit NICs in mac mini or studio would produce under "non pro user" workload. Does it depend on load? I remember comments about NICs that were considered as "always hot", maybe early older...

    10gbit Cooling?

When ethernet NICs are discussed there is always the issue mentioned that these (especially 10Gbit ones) run pretty hot and sufficient cooling is a must. But then on the other hand I see the current mac mini with 10Gbit option. How does that work? Do they use those devices in liquid nitrogen? :)...

TrueNAS and Other Custom NAS Builds

…sorry, I assume I´m at the very bottom of a steep learning curve. Thanks for your input! My hope was to somehow profit from the cool srubbing functionality on the NAS even on my HFS backup disks. But obviously the only way to do so - without changing those backups to zfs - would be to copy...

TrueNAS and Other Custom NAS Builds

scrubbing and resync to HFS? Inspired by this thread and a video about the installation of unRAID I decided to install trueNAS CORE for testing on available hardware (the Z68 in my signature). So far pretty nice! As I´m generally in the same team as @zipb using DAS, JBODing directly within the...

[solved] ASUS Z370 SMBIOS and BIOS for Sonoma?

Hmmm - close: I only have SSDT-EC-USBX-LAPTOP.aml and SSDT-PLUG.aml, but I can´t remember how I finally got there when working through the dortania guide. This config runs stable since OC 0.6.9. And it looks like that it does also in Sonoma with SMBIOSes 19,1 and 20,1. But the WIFI issue lets me...

[solved] ASUS Z370 SMBIOS and BIOS for Sonoma?

Update: Got Sonoma installed as iMac20,1. The missing T2 is something I´ll have to dig deeper into, maybe 19,1 would be a more reasonable choice. But 20,1 would probably allow for longer upgradability before I have to switch to silicon. And yes, my Wifi is also effected so I will stay on Ventura...

[solved] ASUS Z370 SMBIOS and BIOS for Sonoma?

I guess there will not be too many changes required for my current OC setup on Z370. Just the typical suspects like serials etc. for imessage and updated USB map for the new SMBIOS. But we´ll see, i will try it first on a separate drive to evaluate if my broadcom WLAN will be ignored or not -...

[solved] ASUS Z370 SMBIOS and BIOS for Sonoma?

So far I only tried to update via system settings where I do not get the update option. Did you install with a full installer? Got to try that anyway as you are reporting success...

[solved] ASUS Z370 SMBIOS and BIOS for Sonoma?

Thinking about updating to Sonoma, but have to consider changing my current SMBIOS from 18,3 to 20,1 to be able to. Is 20,1 the most reasonable option for my system (z370, i7-9700K, RX580) or is something else more suitable? Wasn´t the T2 chip introduced somewhere on the way possibly causing...
