That particular driver package includes (along with the Windows drivers) a "__MACOSX" sub-folder.
That's the only info I have about it.
The same web site also has firmware upgrades for at least some of the various Aquantia LAN ports.

This Aquantia driver (version 2.1.18) package includes some Aquantia OSX drivers, although the web page only mentions Windows drivers.

For external USB drives that are readable & writable in both macOS & Windows, try using the exFAT format.
However, an exFAT drive won't be boot enabled, AFAIK.
If using an HFS+ drive format (& exclusively with macOS), then also use the GPT partition table, instead of the older MBR.
Note: only affects Windows when running on ASUS branded PC's, AFAIK.

There would at least be a visible desktop, were you to simply power off, swap out the nVidia card & replace with a Vega card, then re-boot while still running High Sierra, no? Then do an in-place O.S. upgrade to Mojave. Leaving fine tuning of extra features for afterwards.
