i just built my first hackpro and it is a dual os (mavericks 10.9.1 & win7 on two separate SSDs)
I also have two 1 terabyte 7200rpm hitachi drives, as well as two 4tb external 5400rpm drives.
I plan on using both windows and osx to produce music and videos with the machine.
Im wondering what...
hi i literally just finished (two hours ago!) installing 10.9.1 on a brand new machine and everything went smooth (didnt use any bootflags and everything seems to be running smooth including audio)
now there is 10.9.2 and im not really inclined to update it since everything is stable for me...
just wanted to say thanx to SquadSeven and Stork and the whole team and community here because Ive just installed 10.9.1 on to my machine and it seems pretty solid so far :)
(didnt even need to use any recovery codes at any point!)
one last question, after I plug my windows ssd back in, how do...
so far so good, mavericks is installing as i type this.
however i just realized that i missed a couple of steps :oops:
3. (Optional) Set X.M.P. Memory Profile to Profile1
4. If your CPU supports VT-d, disable it
will this be an issue? can i change it afterwards in the bios?
or will i need to...
I checked the the psu and i was wrong; it actually is haswell supported (antec tp-550)
the ram Im not sure; i have 4x8gb sticks of this ram here: http://uk.picclick.com/Patriot-Viper16GB-Memory-Kit-DDR3-1600-RAM-2x8-321152682822.html
also, im planning to install 10.9.1 because that is the...
thanx for the quick replies dasdf and stork.
I do have 4 memory sticks installed and they are not supported officially by the motherboard (all 32gb do show up though in the bios) and i do not think my psu is a haswell supported one either so i think my setup will be a good example to further...
hi.
thanx for the guide.
im about to copy yours as we have nearly identical components.
i have some questions:
do i need to download any DSDT? (i dont even see one for the z87xud3h)
do i need to uninstall all ram sticks except for one as it says in the 10.9 guide?
also, i have a separate ssd...
Hi again, sorry for late reply but I finally have all my parts (except video card which I will not get until later on) and can finally start building the machine.
couple more questions;
1. I noticed that there is a newer bios version (F8) for the Z87X-UD3H, should I update the board to that...
hello SquadSeven :)
Im planning to base my build around yours.
Z87X-UD3H
4770k
antec 550watt 80plus PS
heatsink I will try to lightly mod my old (but never used) Scythe Ninja Plus rev.B
ram I still need to buy
case is a fractal R3
gfx i still need to buy but it will most likely be a asus...
Hi I was wondering if this ram would be ok for my (first) build based on a Z87X-UD3H and a 4770k
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148661
it is 1.35 volt, and Im not sure if this affects the build in any way?
i might want to OC the cpu a little (maybe to 4ghz on air)...
hi im building something similar except that it will be atx size.
i was going to go with the asus gtx660ti but now im thinking of getting the asus gtx670 instead.
so is the above advice (of installing osx without the gtx) apply in my case as well?
will my card also be detected with native...
thanx for your reply trs96, appreciate it.
i think i will go with your suggestion.
one other question;
do you think the gtx660 ti version is worth the higher price over the gtx660 oc? (for video editing)
cheers
hi i have some newbie questions;
firstoff, please point to a build that would be the most simple and straightforward for a first timer.
so a build that includes a motherboard/cpu/OS that would essentially work with minimal tweaks and headaches.
im looking to build a DAW+video editing machine...
