Ok, this seems to be an ASRock-specific problem; fortunately, ctyler's fix worked like a charm and I can boot without USB thumb drive.
Problem now is that network connectivity is gone; it says that no Ethernet card was detected, although onboard Ethernet worked during and right after install! I...
Great. After re-inserting the second RAM module and the RX 470, Sierra installer boots. Installation and booting into Sierra according to guide also work. I could log into App Store, install updates etc. But the tricky part comes with Multibeast: After installing suggested packages, I get boot0...
I tried, but I still couldn't get it to boot... :(
Fortunately, I was able to create a Sierra Install USB drive (UEFI-mode) on an old iMac running Sierra.
I get to Clover and can launch the installer, but it seems to take forever. Even after > 1 hour(!!!), Welcome screen doesn't appear. Is this...
I followed the steps regarding ethernet connection, but this doesn't help, so the issue does not come from there.
Does this imply the system needs to boot from HDD without iBoot CD? Because til now, it doesn't.
After running Multibeast (EasyBeast + SystemUtilities) and entering a valid serial...
You mean, install Chimera 4.1.0 from the standalone *.pkg from the Downloads section? Or an older version via Multibeast? I installed 4.1.0. But then, which SMBIOS values do I need to change? How would I obtain a valid serial #?
Here, it says I need Chameleon Wizard. I will try soon.
As far as...
Wow! After 20th attempt or so, I am finally able to boot into 10.6.8!!! Only possible with iBoot CD and following boot parameters:
-v -f
I performed all software updates and rebooted, again with -v -f
Now, when I press Get in Mac App Store, I am prompted to insert my AppleID credentials. I do...
Strange, because in an earlier post it was said you could go further even from 10.6.7.
Where do I find VoodooHDA kext? In 10.6.7, it is not in /System/Library/Extensions. If it is written there by the 10.6.8 installation routine, how can I delete it if I can get the system to boot? I suppose...
Each time I started MacOSXUpd10.6.7.dmg, I was told I needed at least 10.6.6 installed.
I went back to 10.6.7 via TimeMachine, removed Extra folder, rebooted via iBoot and got to the desktop. So far, so good.
Now after installing 10.6.8 v1.1 (via Software Update), I get a kernel panic.
Kernel...
So you are saying if I re-install 10.6.3, go to 10.6.6, 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 without UpdateHelper / MultiBeast, 10.6.8 should finally boot? For the record: 10.6.8 did not boot (til now) even with iBoot IB CD! Either kernel panic, black screen or reboots.
Just wanna make sure before I spend another...
Dear forum,
recently, I got started with my first Customac. In the absence of a real Mac, I purchased Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Instead of buying new hardware, I tried installation on my old gaming rig (specs in the signature; RX 470 not installed; only 1x8GB RAM installed).
Here is what worked...
