Mavericks was getting a bit long in the tooth, and I finally got the courage up to attempt a fresh El Cap install on my little beasty after re-visiting this tremendous resource/community here at Tonymac. Man, you people are amazing! Thanks so much for all you do for helpless noobs such as...
*I* was not updating - I foolishly left auto updating on, and it downloaded and began insisting that install it. Then I accidentally clicked on "install," which put me in this predicament.
Nothing is wrong with 10.9.2 except that I don't want to install it until I have the time to do it...
Fixed (?) but still afraid to restart.
I worked the Googles and found the update package and deleted it, but I'm still afraid to restart.
Anybody know if I'm in the clear now?
Thanks!
RG
I think I can defuse this bomb by finding and deleting the downloaded install package. Yes?
If so, where can I find this install package, and if not, what do you recommend?
Thanks!
OOOOH! I am so tantalizingly close! I had to dump my Asus board because I just couldn't make it happen. Bought this one specifically on the strength of this thread.
Won't boot without npci=0x3000, so I need to figure out how to to edit that into boot.plist, but here is my question:
not...
I think this might be the answer to my current problems. I hit a wall trying to install Mavericks over Lion and having KP's that seem to constellate around FakeSMC.Kext, but I had an idea:
As I consider your guide, I got to thinking that people like me who don't do terminal commands and could...
Boot-looping - progress of sorts - any help much appreciated!
So I did some more reading and sat with the thing for a while and learned a few things.
First - Since this is an upgrade, I am assuming that once the install was completed that I could let the system boot "naturally," meaning just...
So Sorry! I had assumed that my system specs were in my sig line. Fixed that.
I am beginning to think I just over-wrote my boot drive with a fresh install of Mavericks rather than upgrading the OS. Possible?

Boot-looping after Mavericks upgrade [FIXED]
Spent the day futzing with the Mavericks upgrade. Ran into some trouble getting the new Unibeast to boot - turns out my graphics card was hanging up the works, and after trying some boot flags, I get the install underway. Everything goes great until...
Re: Success! Thanks Everybody! Follow up: Parallels??
I just did! But let me see if I can distill it.
After installing Parallels, I was hoping for an "Install from Bootcamp" option, but did not see it. The best I got was an "Install from Windows 7 DVD" and selected it. It was THERE I...
Re: Success! Thanks Everybody! Follow up: Parallels??
I think I *DO* want to install windows properly - don't I?
And as far as I can tell, the problem does lie in the fact that Parallels is designed to install very simply in a Bootcamp environment, but there are a few missing/misplaced...
Re: Success! Thanks Everybody! Follow up: Parallels??
Thanks for the speedy reply!
Sorry to be such a goof, but THEN what?
Every thing I've tried so far leads me to the same point - "preparing to configure your virtual machine" wait 2 -5 minutes, then get
"You need to log into windows...
Re: Success! Thanks Everybody! Follow up: Parallels??
Sorry for being such a screamin' noob, but I really have been doing a lot of reading and futzing - STILL NO JOY IN PARALLELS.
Here are a few things that I think might be worth mentioning - one us is that I seem to have TWO partitions on...
