Running 10.11.5 now. Installation was only possible thru an update like a normal mac. Updating through a usb key didn't work.
I now have USB 3 working fully with iPad charging at max 2.1A. No DSDT (I used to use one, but had trouble making a fresh one that worked, so no more), no extra usb...
Got the RAM in. Enabled XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS and that's it. No crashes as of yet, about 1.5 days. I will be taxing the RAM to the max tomorrow, but all should be well. It tested fine with an 8 hour memtest session with 3.5 passes (stopped it because I had to get to work).
The machine is working great. No real issues, other than the lame iTunes HDCP issues. I was really looking forward to watching movies on here. Oh well.
Still running Yosemite, 10.10.5. I saw some earlier reports of issues with USB 3 and 10.11, so I haven't jumped ship. May not for a little...
Is it possible to downgrade? What prompted you to update?
If there's anything that I've learned with all this hackintosh business, it's if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This seems to hold true with BIOS updates.
I hope you're able to downgrade. Sounds like you have a killer machine.
Hey. Thought I'd chime in. On all my Mac systems, Real and Hack, I use an application called Semulov for partition mounting. It sits up in the menu bar. It's for disk mounting and has options to view all partitions, even hidden ones, to mount and dismount at will. You can unmount entire disks at...
Dell U2412M @ 1920 x 1200 for Primary/Photo work. Got it for $250+, but so worth it.
Dell 2005FPW @ 1680x1050 for Secondary/Spreadsheet work. Got it for $30 at a thrift store.
Great work PJALM. This is maybe the only thing not working on my Hack and it's something I've been wanting to fix for a while. When I originally searched for a solution, nothing came up. I even went as far to verify the possibility by installing Windows and the necessary drivers to get my iPad...
Who are they intended for? If only for MacPro 1,1 to 5,1 users, how long before that stops? I can't see it going past the next 2 or 3 years as the machines will likely have been retired or nearly so by that point.
I guess at that point, we'll have a big problem to deal with.
Any other ideas?
Installed 10.10.3 from the dmg update file. Still working strong. I gave the system its annual clean out. Dust came out of the PSU for ages. Much better now and quieter. Lightroom was working the cpu hard one night and core temps got almost to 70*. No good. I need a better cooler than the stock...
Just wanted to update the post.
Currently running 10.10.1. 10.10.2 is available but I'm going to hold off as it was causing some weird issues on my MBP.
The no audio from wake problem is now fixed per this from...
I agree. I have a feeling that the real motivation to keep upping security on this is to try to keep spammers at bay. It's cheaper for a spammer to build a hackintosh to "do their work" than it is to buy a mac. I don't think they care about Joe Schmo sending cat pictures to his sister.
