[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

I successfully installed 10.9 Mavericks on an i5 Z580. I did not do a fresh installation but instead installed over top of an existing 10.8.5 installation. But I see no reason a fresh installation cannot be made. Since this thread is in the ML Support forum, I posted some info and my files...

    Lenovo Z580 Mav Installation

I successfully installed 10.9 Mavericks over top of an existing installation of Mountain Lion 10.8.5. For the 10.8.5 installation, I drew heavily from the fine thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-lion-laptop-support/64169-work-progress-lenovo-z580-ml-installation.html My Z580 has the...

[Easy Guide] ML: UEFI HDMI Audio

Thanks for the response. Sorry! I hate when that happens. Found the patch. Unfortunately, different errors but more compile errors. I tried with PJALM's 6-series graphic patch and it didn't give the compile errors, but no HDMI audio output either. Disappointing. Guess I'll just have to keep...

[Easy Guide] ML: UEFI HDMI Audio

Hi, I am having compile errors that I would like some help with. I have been involved with hackintoshing for a long time, but I am lousy with DSDT's. I have a media center that I am trying to modify for HDMI audio. The motherboard is Asrock H61M-ITX, BIOS version 1.70, with i3-2100 processor...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

On mine, it kept hassling me to configure a bluetooth keyboard until I went to System Preferences and unchecked the options to auto detect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I've had an assortment of external USB wireless devices. Only a device recognized as an Airport device will make use of...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

AR5B95 and AR5B195 are both AR9285 wireless cards except the AR5B195 also contains bluetooth. I believe that bluetooth is handled on a separate card in the Z580, so you would have no real need for the combo AR5B195. On the otherhand, the extra bluetooth on the AR5B195 should not interfere with...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Wireless: for both of the Z580's that I converted, I used AR5B95 with a Lenovo heritage just in case there was a problem with a Lenovo whitelist. They worked fine with the standard 10.8.4 wireless kext and the Atheros wireless injector kext that I posted on page 37, posting 365. Using one from...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Did you buy the computer from the Lenovo Outlet? Are you positive you received a Z580? When I ordered one, they first sent me the wrong computer. Maybe you received a Z570 or other. Turn the computer over and look at the back. There is a sticker with the model number in very fine print...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

I'm sorry, I've given away the computer, so I can no longer take pictures. I'm getting another one in about a week and if I remember, I will try to take pictures then.

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Enter BIOS. Go to the Boot page. The first line is set to UEFI. Change that to Legacy. A second line will appear (you may need to save and re-enter BIOS to see the 2nd line - can't remember). In the 2nd line, set Legacy to first.

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Well, I always do things a little differently. I use a working Mac/Hack to set everything up. I removed the hard drive from the Z580 and attached it to the other Hack using a USB adapter. I purchased and downloaded ML and set up Unibeast. Ran Unibeast and installed to the laptop/USB drive...

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

If you insert a CD/DVD, does it recognize it? What if you burned the kexts to a CD? Selecting laptop in Unibeast adds PS2 kexts to the USB drive, so that is OK.

[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Just use turkawa's Extra and Kexts from page 25, posting #247 and make the couple of changes from my posting. Also, see birkley's 1st posting about RehabMan's VoodooPS2Controller. You have to install a kext, a daemon and a plist.
