OK, folks thanks for the option-click info. I've used the Griffin iMic for a long time (years) and it is actually very good, although it only has 16-bit converters... but sound always works, no matter what.

@tony -- how do you get the sound options to show up in the menu bar? I can only get the volume slider...

Updated with App Store install on Z97MX-GAMING 5 with core i5 Haswell. Everything running OK, as I use the Intel video and a USB sound module. Completely painless.

See sig for system details. Updated from App Store download, no problems of any kind. Updated audio driver and optional HDA with MB 7.2, audio working fine. Most painless update ever.

Pops with sysdef 12,1 too. Using 12,1 fixed all kinds of Yosemite boot problems for me with my IB 13 3225 processor, but does give the audio pops with analog out. Annoying to be sure, but not terminal.

Since the 10.10.2 update, with GenericUSBXHCI installed from MB7.2, the system doesn't see that the HP printer on my USB2 port has ended print jobs, leaving the system thinking the printer is still running. In addition, the USB3 ports only work with USB2 devices if a USB3 device is installed...

Hi -- your .mb file calls up MB 6.1 -- is that by design, or is that an accident? MB squawks about the called up kexts, etc, not being supported in "this version" and to check names...
