X1 Carbon 6th with 1TB PM981 - firmware update says I have the latest already (4L2QEXA7).
If he is truly using EXA73L2Q, he has a different drive, that firmware string isn't in the Readme.txt for the update.
PM981 crashes the kernel and causes random reboots, unfortunately.
970 Evo drives appear to work and should use the same controller, so it's a bit of a mystery.

The Samsung PM981 crashes macOS regularly.
I intend to put this drive in my desktop and purchase another 1TB for my laptop.
Some SSDs work normally without special hacks in macOS.
Do any also have proper power management, that anyone is aware of?
I tried 10.14 but can't get my keyboard/mouse to work (PS2, using VoodooPS2Controller).
USB keyboard/mouse aren't working either.
I'll let you know if I find out about the PM981.
Do you use HACKrNVMeFamily and SSDT only?
With this (my own SSDT obviously) I can see whole disk, but still crash every few minutes when using, with 10.13 installer.
I believe in the spirit of this rule very much. I have thousands of posts on ****** and Arch Linux forums, I have dedicated years of my life to helping people with technical issues.
However, it feels deeply wrong to make it impossible for users to find each other outside of the forum to discuss...
It looks like this will not work with install to PM981, I am still crashing with your kext and SSDT (edited for my device path).
Please do not find me / contact me outside this forum, as the rules do not permit it.
Hey dsgvsn,
You have this working as your boot drive in 10.13.5? You installed to it?
I will attempt this myself with my own SSD path, will let you know.
Thank you!
