Try connecting your drive to another USB port and see if you still get this error. If attempting to use an SSD as the install device, try another SATA port.

Smells like a scam to me. If you do receive it, more than likely it won't be what you actually ordered. It may be in an enclosure that says Crucial etc, but inside might be a crappy Chinese knockoff. Or it won't actually be 250GB. Same thing happens with microSD cards and USB sticks on eBay.

Ok, I followed the two guides you listed. I changed my config.plist and recompiled my DSDT. No more App Store crashes.

Ok, now I'm asking for help and attaching the files. The debug.sh tool wouldn't pull the IOREG so I had to save it manually and put it in the zip.

I wasn't asking for a solution, just if anyone else was experiencing this.

Anyone else having issues with the new App Store? Every time I attempt to open it, it freezes my machine and I have to do a hard reset.

I can confirm that this works. Thinking my system was screwed I attempted to reinstall from recovery and it worked. System now shows proper build number etc.

I am using APFS. Booted into verbose mode and the error shows: Error loading kernel cache (0xe). A Google search suggested that I tried using OsxAptioFixDrv2 instead, but same results.

So I updated and now I get the prohibited sign...
