Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Well I received the 150W power supply today and am sorry to say that it is not providing anymore performance on the HP unlike the lenovo. @deeveedee 's findings on the BIOS is very likely the reason. The Geekbenck results are nearly identical to the 90W: ~1330 Single thread and ~7050...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Thank you for all your research @deeveedee. I indeed suspected that the PL limited are actually in the BIOS. I had no idea we could access them on the HP machines. The time limit for PL2 is also of interest there where it seems very short indicating also that it is likely that a higher rating...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

To save you from doing some research on the intel CPU wattages, I will summarize this in a few sentences: The i9-9900 has a TDP of 65W which means really that it has a PL1 (Power limit applied after 28s of high load) of 65W but various CPUs actually have short term burst power limit (PL2) and...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

@deeveedee, this could be something to try out: It appears that at least on the lenovos, people are reporting that getting a higher wattage power supply unleashes more CPU performance. Especially on the i7-i9. My 65W G5 came with a 90W Power supply but our CPUs have a PL2 of 135W. I don't know...

I had no idea one could install "K" CPUs in these minis. I am not that ambitious. I am only looking to get my 65W CPUs working. In my math I actually even forgot to take into account the net resale value of the excess components I am buying. The actual cost will now be around $1350... I am...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

I took a very hard look at it and I am honestly a bit disappointed. It's not the leap it is made to be. Though I would say that it is getting one step closer to obsoleting our hacks but there are still some ways to go. I will not jump ship to the ARM based CPUs for desktop yet and am still...

Monterey on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Thanks @deeveedee, So I guess we don't know which one prevails? About the EFIcheckdisabler, I don't quite understand how it failed to work. I overwrote the kext which appear to be identical (according to the md5 check) and rebooted... and it worked again. This is a bit concerning.

Monterey on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Likely due to your DP to HDMI adapter. Try either using an active adapter or use a DP port on your monitor. I think what is happening is that the adapter is powered by the monitor. If the monitor goes to sleep or is turned off then the adapter is powered off. When you power the monitor back on...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

@mamomamo, I think that @deeveedee is onto something... Going to Catalina and upgrade from it would not cause the loading of a different driver but the MacOS upgrade my update the firmware of the BT chip. Indeed, non Apple BRCM BT chips require an upload of their FW at each OS boot. It is...

What do you see under your BT section of the system information? For comparison this is what mine shows under USB with the BCM94360CS2.
