    iMac (mid-2011) constant reboot

Honestly, the only problem I have with this iMac is that the CD slot drive won't read disks. Outside of that, the only thing I ever did to is mechanically was upgrade the RAM a few times. I ran a hardware test during boot and it passed. However, nothing I do during booting seems to work. The...

    iMac (mid-2011) constant reboot

Just this afternoon, my 27" mid-2011 iMac shut-down and got stuck in a reboot cycle that won't stop I booted in verbose mode and captured this: Can anyone spare about 1.25 minutes and the time to reply to tell me what seems to have gone wrong in my iMac? It has worked flawlessly up to...

    macOS 10.12.6 Update

Updated without issue - removed the fake IDs for the the processor and updated the ID for the Intel 630HD graphics. Also changed the Mac system ID to 18,1 When I booted into the updated OS, the NVIDIA driver asked to update. All is smooth now...

[UPDATED for Multibeast 9.2.1 and Sierra 10.12.6] Sierra On 200 Series With KabyLake Processor

Thanks - I read pages of the forum here with the feedback from others but there were too many variable builds to determine if it is working properly on 200 series Kaby Lake MB/CPUs. I took the plunge after backing up my drive and upgraded. Went fine - no issues - still not sure I removed...

the best way is to run some geekbench4 and cinemark tests to see how they compare against other builds with similar hardware If you have a dual partition and have installed Windows as well, you can compare the Windows stats on Geekbench to the the stats on OSX

How are you getting to your configure file? Are you pulling it directly from the EFI partition? If not, that is not the correct config file.

Wait to put in the 1050ti card until you get it up and running and can install the NVidia graphics driver. Then install the driver, power down, install the card and use the bottom HDMI port. Boot up and you should be using the NVidia graphics automatically by installing the driver and...

MultiBeast should get you close with most of the options being built on the USB installer and it should allow you to get a bootable version of Sierra installed and running to allow you to get into Clover and save these as your updated Config.plist file. If you are getting stuck in boot, you may...

Other upgrade was to go all Noctua on the fans. 2x 80mm in the rear, Noctua slim CPU cooler and a big old 200mm on the front. Whisper quiet now - I actually get more white noise from the crappy Altec USB powered speakers than I do the fans under normal load.

At first, I tried the top one (closest to the display port) and got a responsive machine but no display. I then did a little digging and found that the bottom HDMI is active on this card based on others' experiences. Once I switched it up, I got full display with NVidia driver actively...

Apple Updates MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac with Kaby Lake CPUs

170 boards are getting pricier and harder to come by. Go with a 270 board. I wouldn't recommend a mini-ITX board if you want to upgrade later as there is only one PCI-e slot and 2 DIMM slots. Adding RAM above 32GB will be really pricey and a video card will be pretty much the only thing you...

    Gigabyte H270N-WIFI /Intel HD630 / i5-7600 Kaby Lake running Sierra

I have since updated the video adapter to a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050i - the trick is using the correct HDMI port on the card to make sure you get the video signal - otherwise, you will get a blank screen and no signal. With the card upgrade, all sleep functions work, including deep sleep and...
