Thanks @Robbish , I have made the changes to the config.plist to enable the HD4000 graphics in headless mode. Seems to run as before. So how do I know if it is working? Do I need to set anything in BIOS to ensure the IGPU is being used?
Great writeup! I have the same CPU but with a Z77-UD5H motherboard and a NVIDIA 680GTX GPU. I have Big Sur running with OpenCore by essentially copying someone's EFI folder (my attempts at following the Dortana guide failed). I have the IGPU disabled, I think. I would like to clean up/start...
I replaced VirtualSMC and its associated kexts in OpenCore with FakeSMC and its kexts and updated the config.plist. I was able to boot into Big Sur. HWMonitor can read the temps, but I cannot control the fan speed (I can make changes, but they don't affect the speed). HWMonitor tries to...
My motherboard (Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H) only allows me to set the slope of the fan speed curve in manual mode. I have set the slope to minimum. I would like to completely turn off the case fans when the temps are low enough. I could do this with the Clover/FakeSMC/HWMonitor combination.
OK, it appears my understanding of the update process is essentially correct. As you say, I will not change from 0C 0.6.3 at this time. The Differences.pdf gives the changes between the current and the previous version. I am concerned that if I get too far behind it may become extremely...
I am trying to regain control over the speed of the fans. They are currently too noisy and temps are quite low. I did this before in Mojave with Clover/FakeSMC/HWMonitor. How do do this Big Sur with OpenCore and VirtualSMC? I am able to read the fan speed with HWMonitorSMC2, but there appears...
I am new to OpenCore. I have to confess I started out by simply copying a EFI folder from another member, so my understanding is not that strong. I have successfully used OC 0.63 to get Big Sur to run well and now I am wondering if I need/should update to 0.64. I do not know what the process is...
Thanks! I was able to get it to work after I figured out how to use ProperTree to add a patch. External drives now show up perfectly in Big Sur. What plist editor do you use?
I am new to openCore (less than a week). How exactly did you do this? Could you please post the changes you made to the config.plist and where exactly do you put them? Thanks!
@madman1234
I have the same setup. I would appreciate a copy of your EFI folder as well. I am having a terrible time with even getting the USB to boot.
ARM does not make or sell processors. They license the IP rights to anyone who wants to build an ARM processor. Licensees are free to customize as they see fit, as long as they are compliant with the ARM ISA. ARM is actually owned by SoftBank, a Japanese telecom.
