Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Just me flying in again with a thought… anyone actually using their hackintosh as a main/production machine? Any risks if one would make daily snapshots?

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

In the case of 'vs Mac Mini M1'.... I was wondering. When my flash drive gives out an anxious message about it's lifetime after 4-5 years(?) I replace it. Swap it out, done. When in the Mac Mini M1 the storage/NVME/Flash/whatever on the thing gives up, you will need to need to buy a new Mac...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

I'm fine with adventure, as long as everything works as long as I don't update it. If I update it and I'm screwed, it's my fault and I'm happy to puzzle along. I checked the MM M1 out but... 16GB doesn't feel like a lot anymore. I usually use MacOS on one screen, Windows on another screen. I...

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

It’s been over 10 years and I can’t afford to buy a Apple Mac. My 2014 Retina MBP suffered from screen gate and now literally hangs under my desk blowing hard, being sad considering the stuff I put it through. Since BigSur I can’t go back to a MacMini 2012. So that’s off the table. Is the HP...

    Annoying...

Sorry, couldn't figure out a better headline. Though, my Macx86 crashes frequently. It's always the same behavior, screen freezes, but the music keeps playing. After that the picture on my display turns into several blocks. And after that I have to reset the damn thing. I think it has something...

Upgrade SL to Lion, kernel panics all the way....

Did that, didn't work. Though I just saw the new 0.90b version since install, no problems.

Upgrade SL to Lion, kernel panics all the way....

Very annoying. The system crashes like 30 times a day and I can't solve it. Any idea?

    Annoying sound/Things/iTunes problem

An added annoyance: iStat Pro 3.1 (latest update) removes my beloved Intel sensors for temp. monitoring. :-\

    DWA-556 not showing up

Still not showing up. I get a green light on the card, but that's it. :-\

    [i7-950] Safe OC?

Idle temp is 41c, after it's been off and booted into OSX. And with the last update of iStat Pro I lost my CPU sensors, the joy... I have two lower placed fans sucking air in and two fans blowing out, in the top area. Also, the PSU has a fan sucking and the GPU&CPU blowing(to the top). Thanks...

    [i7-950] Safe OC?

Well, only option 1 seems possible. When mounting the Scythe the manual was talking about 4 rings that weren't delivered with my motherboard so I mounted them without it. But I can't imagine that makes the difference. I have two exhaust fans blowing outside and the fan of the Mugen is also...

    [i7-950] Safe OC?

Idle is about 54c, stressed (Prime95) max 78c. And that's running stock. :-( I'm really wondering what the hell is wrong in my setup. Cooling is Mugen II rev B, indeed.

    [i7-950] Safe OC?

I'm going to donate a HDD to Windows, unfortunatly I can't manage temps via VMware. I know this must sound crazy. ;) Is there not any usefull OSX app for temp monitoring?

    Annoying sound/Things/iTunes problem

Sound: I use a Bose Companion 5, it connects via USB. The problem is that the sound doesn't work after putting the mac to sleep. Manually changing output in the system preferences doesn't help. I need to reboot before it works again. Things: It's a task manager that syncs with my iPhone & iPad...

    [i7-950] Safe OC?

I'm gonna talk a bit more to myself. What do you guys use to monitor CPU temp? Problem is that iStatPro gives very different readings under load than Temperature Monitor. 92 degrees vs 80 degrees. Idle they are almost the same. (67C) Any thoughts?
