Will my Hack be able to handle 4k?

I just tried to watch a video in 4k in YouTube (without a 4k monitor) and it kinda worked, skipping some frames here and there until the HTML5 player crashed, again and again. Maybe a 1440p monitor is a better choice for this machine.

Will my Hack be able to handle 4k?

Hi, thanks for your input. I thought PCI e 2.0 wasn't a bottleneck for today's video cards yet, at least in the mid range. As I said tough, I'm not planing to play games on my hackintosh, I have my PS4 for that. I had a Core 2 Duo before and YouTube videos in 1080p 60 fps were unwatchable...

Will my Hack be able to handle 4k?

Hi, all. I've been wanting to buy a 4k monitor for a while now. I'll most likely go for the Monoprice 28 inch CrystalPro. The thing is, my computer is 6 years old... it still goes like a champ, but I fear it's not going to be enough to, say, play 4k YouTube videos, for example. These are my...

    Semi-silent i7 build in G5 case.

Hey, I also have a G5 case and am pursuing the dream of a silent machine, for my bedroom in my case. Right now my secondary hard drive (not my boot SSD) is vibrating like a m*********er in the original G5 HDD cage, I'll need some rubber or silicone mounts to isolate the vibrations. But...

Intel Core 2 Quad runs hotter on OS X than Win

Okay, so I checked temperatures again in Windows and was very surprised with the results. Idle temps are around 5º Celsius lower, more on some cores. But when I ran Cinebench, the temps were actually higher and I got a considerably lower score compared to the ones I got on OS X. So I guess...

Intel Core 2 Quad runs hotter on OS X than Win

So yeah, take a look at the attached pictures. OS X recognises my Q6600 as a "2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon" and temperatures are much higher than in Windows 7. I'm using the mighty PowerMac G5 cooler (in picture) which is miles ahead of the stock Intel cooler, but temps are not so great. Temps...

Fan-less Zotac GTX 750 ZONE compatibility

I can get the audio from my motherboard using the VoodooHDA kext included in MultiBeast but unfortunately I can't get to the phisical audio port without further modding the G5 case. That's why Display Port audio would be really handy. Also I plan to connect my PS4 to my monitor and share the...

Fan-less Zotac GTX 750 ZONE compatibility

The only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that the EVGA cards and this one don't seem to share the same PCB design, I'm worried that could affect compatibility with OS X and maybe I end up with one less port or no audio output. What do you think?

Fan-less Zotac GTX 750 ZONE compatibility

That's great to hear. I needed some confirmation. I guess I'll be buying it sometime soon. Thanks for replying

Fan-less Zotac GTX 750 ZONE compatibility

Hi all, I've found this GTX 750 made by Zotac that doesn't have a fan, and thought it would be perfect for my Silent G5 Hack. Since it is basically a 750, as the EVGA one that's on the tonymac buyer guides, it should work fine with Yosemite, right? Also, will all the ports work? It has DVI...

    No cutting, minimal G5 mod.

I need to add some expansion cards to my hack. I'm worried about compatibility with OS X. Mind sharing what PCI cards you ended up using? Thanks

    No cutting, minimal G5 mod.

Nice, I'll be starting something like this tomorrow, when I get my G5 case. Are you planing to use only the PCI ports to get by? No re-routing to the existing port holes? I'm curious.

Yosemite boots only once. MultiBeast not working

Well, I found a solution. Regarding Chimera, I had to install it manually using the Terminal to the Boot OS X hidden partition, I forgot about that. Still, that was not the problem. I found that it had something to do with the Cache or Bootcache, because I was able to boot in Safe Mode. So...

Yosemite boots only once. MultiBeast not working

Okay, I have a big, weird problem. I install Yosemite, I boot from the USB installer and everything works fine. I'm now writing this from Yosemite. The thing is, when I turn the computer off, having ran MultiBeast or not, I won't be able to turn it on again. I've tried several times and on...
