Well, then I'd rather look for am Motherboard with DisplayPort. I personally hate HDMI because I had issues with HDMI (high resolution not possible via HDMI despite being within specs). I never hat any issues with DisplayPort.
My eight year old PC (AMD based, no Hackintosh) seems to be at end of life. Last year the motherboard died, this week the PSU started smoking. I'd better get a new one now before loosing data.
Unfortunately we are in the transition phase from Sky Lake to Kaby Lake. And it seems that you get...
Backup and restore worked like a charm. Comand line rules.:headbang:
Installation of Mavericks instead was a nightmare. The Macbook did not recognize the Mavericks Bootstick as soon as the SSD was connected. The SSD proofed to be ok - it worked perfectly in my Linux PC.
Fortunately I had the...
Hi,
I want to replace the HDD of my sisters old MacBook by a SSD. Since she still has 10.6 installed, which was upgrade from 10.4 some time ago, I think it is best to make a fresh installation of 10.9. Of course we want to copy her data to the SSD. I want to do this with cpio using a...
I am talking about powered off. WoL works with suspend to RAM (S3), but with my Lenovo T410 WoL also works when it is powerd off as long as it is connected to the AC power (can be configured in the BIOS). This is handy for automatic backups during the night.
Is ist posslible to wake a Macbook by WoL when powerd off? It does work with my Lenovo Thinkpad when connected to AC power. Or is WoL only possible with sleep mode?
You should watch out for "Haswell ready" or whatever it is called. No joke! Old power supplies may misinterpret the power saving mechanisms of the Haswell CPUs and switch into sleep mode.
A slim shell script is a great thing. Thanks!
I doubt that. TRIM just tells the SDD which sectors are unused by the OS. Most SDDs need this information for garbage collection. But it is up to the SSD controller what to do with this information.
TRIM commands can slow down disk operation if...
I have been looking for a new monitor for quite some time. I think WQHD is the minimum. I have a 1920x1200 display at work and I can't see any adaventage over my 10 year old 17' NEC which I am still using at home. 1920 Pixels horzontal resolution is to small to have two windows (e.g. word...
Did you test WoL (Wake on Lan)? Thats a feature I am highly interested in. I do automatic backups every night - my server wakes the hosts by WoL and puts them back to sleep when the backup is finished. Works perfectly with my Linux machines and the MacBooks of my sisters.
Thats not surprising. The single thread performance of a Celeron is not that bad. If you look at
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
you will be dissapponted by the fact that a cheap Celeron is rated at ~1600 while the expensive i7 are rated at ~2000 i.e. only 20% faster. Since...
Thanks for your report. This looks to me like very clever selection of parts in terms of price-performance ratio. Let me ask the most important question:
Is there anything that is not working?
