FIXED!
So this is the same issues that is outlined in this Guide (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-install-high-sierra-or-mojave-on-the-dell-optiplex-7010-9010-desktop-pc-revision-ii.251736/) where certain models of the 7010 do not have AMT enabled and prevent the HD4000 video from...
I have seen the same thing, most apple apps work okay on built in video, but the playback cursor in logic does not always update, and apps like VLC will not play video at all.
This issue has effected several people, wondering if it is just a config issue or..?
Same issue here, I am running from built in HD 4000 graphics and all Apple apps can see the built in video no problem (Logic, Quicktime player) but other apps like VLC will not.
Not sure if that is just the deal or....
Hey Guys,
I have a Dell SFF 7010 running Mojave, everything is great *except* when I use VLC it is missing OpenGL/Quicktime or whatever it is to play video, I do get audio but cannot get video, I get one frame per second basically.
Video works fine in Quicktime player, so I am wondering is...
Hey guys,
got a 7010 SFF from craigslist - 3.2 ghz I7, 2tb internal. 16gb of RAM. - $175
Added a 1T SSD - $109
Followed this guide, and got Mojave up and running in about 2 hours!
Everything works:
LAN
Built in audio
Messenger
App Store
ICloud
Shutdown and restart
Nice and perky!
Thanks...
Is this the reason the "waiting for root device" problem exists?
I have a dell 980, can get going with Clover from the USB stick, but I hit the "missing bluetooth controller transport" message and then get "waiting for root device".
Would patching with this USB ktext get me past that?
Its not on the apple store anymore..
I am trying to put El Capitan on a Dell 980 and have hit a wall, "waiting for root device" and have tried switching ports, etc. etc. and can't get past that to get to the installer. I want to go back to Yosemite and try it, but..where the heck can you get...
Hard to install El Capitan on these, there are USB problems and "waiting for root device" hits a lot of people, (including me!). Haven't been able to get past that on a 980 with an I7 and 8gigs.
Same problem here - tried switching all the ports (on the 980 all ports are USB2, there are no USB3 ports), have cpus=1 set, able to get to Bluetooth IO and then get stuck on "waiting for root device".
Dell's too, tons and tons of them around, core duo's are about $40.00 US in my town at a used computer store.
Optiplex 7xx, 8xx, and 9xx have been used a lot.
Sounds like ACPI is not set on the motherboard, that is what would happen on my Dell, same place, and the bios got reset somehow, had to turn RAID off in the drives section of the BIOS. Worth a shot if you haven't already done that.
