[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

Does anyone else here get a ~15 second delay during every boot on Big Sur due to kext cache rebuilding? I just updated to the latest Big Sur beta (11.0.1) and experience slow boot times due to the fact that "kextcache -Boot -U /" is executed each time the OS boots.

    1) I suppose there will be no problem with updates, don't see the reason why it would break. 2) No experience in making kexts and no spare time to dig into it at the moment. Maybe some kext guru can help on this one. 3) I don't know about handoff, never tried it. In general, this has been...

    Is hibernation supported?

I would also love to have hibernation working, since my NUC8i7BRH is otherwise a perfect replacement for my old rMBP. I carry the NUC from home to work every day and, being used to just close the lid of the MBP for the past 8 years, I miss leaving everything open at the office and finding it as...

Now that you mention it, I suppose they are, so you must install them with the Clover installer (I was not sure if the rc.boot scripts are executed by Clover or if they are executed by macOS anyway). Another method would be to make a LaunchDaemon plist to run the script, I might do that if I...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

rc.clover.lib is from the Clover rc scripts (can be installed using the installer). I already had them installed, but I think that the top part of the script (that sources rc.clover.lib) is not needed anyway. It should be safe to delete this part of the script and get rid of rc.clover.lib...

No, login works fine on first boot (that is the whole point, after all); it just takes 4-5 seconds after the login screen appears for the keyboard/mouse to become active.

If you boot Windows/Linux once, then the firmware will stay on the adapter after reboot/power off. Only when you cut the power to the NUC (ie. pull the plug), does it get invalidated. Using my fix, though, this does not apply; it works in macOS just like it does in Windows/Linux.

Good news, I just managed to sort the internal Bluetooth issue. It is kind of a hack, but I couldn't find the time to go through the proper way (eg. creating a kext or something). You just have to copy the files in the attached zip to the respective directories (just follow the directory...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

Good news for anyone interested in getting the internal bluetooth fully working :) After successfully building this: https://github.com/wulf7/iwmbt-firmware, I managed to download the firmware and get bluetooth working without having to first boot into Windows/Linux! The caveat is that, since...

Does anybody else have a problem with audio from the headphone port? I am using HDMI/Displayport audio and it works fine, but I tried plugging a pair of headphones in the front port and, although it is being detected (audio output automatically changes to internal audio), all I can hear is...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

Regarding the internal bluetooth issue (firmware has to be first downloaded to the adapter by Windows/Linux), I just stumbled upon this: https://github.com/wulf7/iwmbt-firmware. It is stated that "it looks trivial to make some newer models e.g. PIDs 0x8087/0x0025, 0x8087/0x0026, 0x8087/0x0029...

Yes, that's what I am already using, since the other option is not so practical. I'm just hoping for a solution in order to ditch the Asus USB adapter (I think it is the culprit for some sleep issues I'm having).

Yes, I considered going this route, but I take my NUC to my office every day, so I would have to do that at least twice a day. I think it survives a simple power off, though, as long as you don't disconnect the power cable; I don't remember if I have tested this on my NUC, but it definitely...
