Chimera Boot Issue with Time Machine Disks

Possible solutions: Reformat affected Time Machine drive and hope the corruption doesn't happen again Unplug/replug before each boot (only works if affected Time Machine drive is external) Update org.chameleon.Boot.plist to force it to scan only one drive (will break dual boot) Switch to the...

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

No clue what causes it. To the best of my knowledge, this bug has not been fixed in Chimera/Chameleon. However, it does not exist in Clover, which seems to be the new standard in Hackintosh. I migrated my system to Clover a couple weeks back with minimal difficulty.

Success Guide Yosemite 10.10.1 Clover UEFI Guide - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H

Thanks for the guide -- my move to Clover was pretty smooth. Aside from the iMessage/iCloud problem, I can do everything I need to do. I am currently having one strange issue, however: neither of my ethernet adapters is functional (they did work before I migrated from Chimera). I am pretty much...

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

Reformatting the drive worked, but it was a hassle -- difficult for me to reformat an internal drive that causes all of my (Chameleon-powered) boot drives to crash. And I have now had this issue recur twice. It would be nice if there were a solution that allowed recovery without reformatting my...

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

Anyone know a solution for those of us who use Chameleon as a boot loader for multiple drives?

    Nvidia Quadro 2000

I wasn't able to get the Quadro 2000 to work in my Hackintosh. I'm not an expert and I didn't have much time to spend on it, so I'm not saying it is impossible, but you should do your research before purchasing to be sure.

Chimera Boot Issue with Time Machine Disks

Don't hold your breath for a quick fix -- this bug has been sitting untouched for quite a while now. I'm afraid you're stuck erasing your backups or buying another drive.

Chimera Boot Issue with Time Machine Disks

In several places around these forms are threads about an issue involving Chimera spontaneously failing to boot on systems with large Time Machine drives. On a previously working system, not undergoing any sort of upgrade, Chimera will hang on the \|/- text spinner as long as the offending drive...

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

Try disconnecting your internal HD. If that fixes it, you may have a variant of the problem discussed in this thread.

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

I also encountered this issue -- it arose unprovoked, not during an upgrade or anything like that. You can read my thread at: GA-Z77X-UD5H Doesn't Reach Bootloader Also, in my research I found that this was an old problem, and long ago someone proposed a patch for Chimera: Boot hangs if USB...

    GA-Z77X-UD5H doesn't reach bootloader

It turns out that this issue is unrelated to Mavericks -- people began complaining of it before Mavericks was released, at least as far back as 2011. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to avoid it at this point; we don't know enough about why it happens. Enough people have had it to verify...

    GA-Z77X-UD5H doesn't reach bootloader

SOLVED! Well, partially. In addition to my two bootable SSDs, I also have two 2 TB HDs, one for my files, the other for Time Machine. If I disconnect the internal Time Machine HD, everything boots normally. It turns out that there are a bunch of people who have posted about Chimera behaving...

    GA-Z77X-UD5H doesn't reach bootloader

Okay, recreating the USB drive didn't help. I am completely dead in the water, can't get anything Mac-related to boot. On one hand, it feels like it must be hardware because it crops up so fast; from the time when I select the boot drive (either SSD or USB) it takes less than a second to...
