I found that my overclock causes instability, including random crashes and CMOS resets on restart. Without overclock, I have a completely stable build. However, with Mavericks (using Chimera instead of Clover) this same machine with the same overclock was absolutely solid as a rock.
The SSDT...
This was a brand new install to a fresh SSD, using Unibeast and the Post Installation Tools which existed pre Multibeast 8 - so as far as I know there won't be any old kexts hanging around.
I've had the same hardware (in my profile) since Snow Leopard, which later become a stable Mavericks build. Since I upgraded to El Cap though, a couple of things have started happening.
1) Mainstage unexpectedly quits
2) The machine reboots without warning
Have had a quick look in the About...
Sounds like a graphics injection / ati config / framebuffer issue in your Clover config.
Might be some useful info for your card in here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general/45992-hd6570-dual-monitors-framebuffer-personality-issues-2.html
good luck
P and C state generation was some Clover flags, although I'm suspicious of how this stuff interacts with my overclock.
RTC patch seemingly fixed the CMOS reset.
Sleep/wake is dysfunctional. It takes a long time to sleep, and wake is actually a cold restart. Unsolved. I've tried numerous...
This can happen if you copy or move the downloaded app. e.g. if you copy it to an external disk or NAS to back it up, it will no longer work.
Download direct from the app store, *leave it alone*, and it will be ok.
If you want to take a backup, zip it up and backup the zip - that will...
Setting InjectKexts to true in the Clover config.plist worked for me when I got stuck at this stage. Worth a try.
I also had my DSDT.aml in the EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched folder.
The installation guide on this very site does say to format the destination drive using Disk Utility during installation. If it's a fresh disk then you will have to partition and erase it before you can install to it.
May be a good idea to watch a 'fresh install of El Capitan' kind of video...
You'll have to download it again. If you copy it somewhere (e.g. to archive it to your NAS or whatever) it breaks it.
If you want to keep a copy, zip it up, and archive the zip.
Do you not even get to the Clover boot menu when booting from the USB stick?
I would say if you get the boot1/boot5 message, that clover is trying to start up but failing. Could be an invalid config.plist, or a failure to read one of the drives it can see. Remove your SSD and boot with the...
Try using Clover Configurator to add the InjectKexts option to your USB installer stick. Also make sure your DSDT is in /EFI/CLOVER/acpi/patched
I also set ncpi=0x2000 and dart=0
That got me to the installer, on a similar motherboard. Sorry if it doesn't work for you.
I believe your steps should be very similar to this:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-desktop-support/173919-ga-p55-usb3-usb-support-installer.html#post1120197
That was a good starting point for me with GA-P55-USB3, which is a similar class of motherboard. El Cap install was painless...
Thanks for confirming. I'm still torn between El Cap and Yosemite, because it sounds like there might still be a few application incompatibilities... and I wonder how to get sleep working.
