    X299 - Open Core support

Hmm......well, I usually use the reset button on my case, which is a hard reset, but not always. I'll give that a shot. Thanks. I guess I could just turn it off, too. That sounds a little over the top, but maybe.....I'll do it after trying the case driven reset (button) and see if that works...

    X299 - Open Core support

As this thread is about X299 OpenCore, I am going to try posting here..... I am on 0.5.3 and am having trouble with the Booter Menu utility. If I make a change, such as add an .efi file, the menu won't show up. Other changes, that should work, like a known good scan policy, also will cause...

    Asus X299 - Support

Well, I have hit this problem, once in a blue moon or so......typically it means that drive, for some reason, requires that you do a full Clover install with booting selected as part of the install process. Then moving your EFI should work. Things to Check: - Make sure the drive you've...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

So, LG has upgraded my monitor to support HDR: https://www.anandtech.com/show/15087/lg-unveils-43un700-monitor-425inch-4k-w-hdr10-for-work-gaming. This is an almost exact copy of the monitor I work on except my monitor does not have HDR support. The ports on this new monitor are identical...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

You are missing a bunch of SSDTs. Not that they are all critical (most are cosmetic, but some, like the audio ones can be helpful in diagnosing problems) So, have you checked kgp's threads? Yes, it's closed but it's still relevant. I have never checked APSN and APLF, and I used to have the...

    X299 - Open Core support

I don't think so, if I understand your question correctly. That (the system_profiler command) is a Mac command only. The tool I use in Windows is GPU-Z. But, as the article states, I'm not sure it makes a whole lot of difference anyway.

    X299 - Open Core support

Well, my Radeon VII is in the fifth slot, and it's reading x16 in both Windows and Mac.....so there's that.... And for everyone else, the command to see if your card is performing at x16 (via the cli) in a Mac is: system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType Here's my results from issuing that...

    X299 - Open Core support

Just a short note that 10.15.2 Beta is out, Kernel version (19C32e), seems fine on Clover and on OpenCore (I'm running 0.5.3 of OC, but I suspect it will run just fine on 0.5.1 and 0.5.2.). New version of Xcode (11.2), but nothing else that I've noticed yet. Mostly this version is supposed to...

    X299 - Open Core support

I think your post is excellent. I would only add that with many add-in cards, instead of a slot number, you can try the phrase "built-in". Seems to work for all of my add-in cards.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD Vega 56

Oh geez, that's a really good reason to migrate to OpenCore.....and my Opencore works just fine. If only I could the booter to work properly with showing only the menu items I want it to show.......now I need to think about this. Thanks!

A small favor - when you boot in Clover with VirtualSMC 1.09, do you also add in AptioInputFix.efi and UsbKbDxe.efi to enable File Vault? And with VirtualSMC 1.09, it's working? Anything else required for File Vault on Clover? In open core, do you load the same? Because I would think you...

    Asus X299 - Support

Sorry, in my earlier post as a response to another use, I meant to link to the X299 kgp thread, but managed to link to the older X99 thread. My bad.....

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD Vega 56

Yea, that's what I'm worried about - it works on Opencore, but not so good on Clover....of course my hardware is much different being X299, I got panic cpu errors, so not sure yet what's going on.....btw, I've never seen a "End Randomseed" error on opencore, not ever, either on the Z370 or the...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD Vega 56

So, I tried 10.15.1 with Clover 5098, and the very latest VirtualSMC (I think its 1.09), got it via Hackintool. Results on my X299 system was not good. 3 system freezes in about half an hour - on 5096 with an older VirtualSMC, never froze (I have gone back to 5096, and again so far no...
