Dell XPS 8000
including IDE driver and working Video, Audio and added working Network card.
works for daily use, mentioned post install steps also required after updates.
(I Just Validated these steps with El Capitain 10.11)
I bought a network card a TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR for network = RTL8169...
I have XPS 8000 as well, and it does work! 10.10.3 :)
Please make sure to set System Preferences->Sound->Internal Speaker to use the GREEN jack on the back.
Otherwise use the headphone jack on the front.
Hope this helps!
On the XPS 8000 you need an additional driver for the internal drive: ATAPortInjector.kext. Its attached in the zip file in this post.
I started out installing everyting on an external USB and moved to internal after installing this kext file.
Great tools all. I still use the free version of Carbon Copy Cloner, otherwise known as "CCC" which is fine under 10.8.1 although they warn me to upgrade. I used to Super Duper everything but the free version doesn't allow smart updates ;-)
Great! I manually updated my Dell XPS Studio 8000 to mountain Lion but this version would most certainly saved me a bunch of time. Shows me to have more patience to save my time ;-)
Great Job!
Okay, this workaround below works, but the solution I have found and executed and found working like a charm is at: http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/issues/129/
Best of Luck!
Hah, Nice thread. I love all this speculation.
But, of course this wil be a clean install on a Bootable USB.
Its the most logical evolutionary step...
