I would also keep the recovery partition to quickly access disk utility and terminal if needed. Especially if I were to misplace my unibeast install thumb drive.

Note that on older versions like Mavericks or El Capitan the directories are different:

The answer comes down to the Architecture of the NVIDIA GPU. Essentially, were comparing Kepler Architectures vs Maxwell Architectures. (Also consider if your power supply is sufficient for the card.)
Maxwell = Not Native
