HP branded Intel HD3000 Mobile? (HP DV6-7 6xxx Sandy Bridge)

I have a DV7-6163US that I got running a couple years ago with lots of help from the people here, who are still on this same thread helping people. It is running Lion 10.7.5, and has been good for a long time. I am fine with keeping it on Lion, but my question is, is it possible to upgrade to...

HP branded Intel HD3000 Mobile? (HP DV6-7 6xxx Sandy Bridge)

For wifi, I like the Edimax Nano USB. It's tiny, so it's not in the way, and it has Mac drivers. It only costs about $10. Check Meritline.com to get one.

Best wifi adapter for Mountain Lion? Kismac and packet injection?

I like this one a lot: http://www.meritline.com/edimax-ew7811un-wireless-ieee802-11bgn-adaptor---p-64568.aspx Works great with Mac, and it is tiny, so it doesn't stick out and get in the way. You can go to the manufacturer web site to download the Mac driver, it doesn't come with it.

dv7-6163cl hackintosh possible? Dual booting with win7 partition help plz

Search is very helpful too..... I have a DV7-6163US. My guess is you have nearly the exact same machine. Mine has the 2.0 ghz processor and no Radeon GPU. If you search, you can find a guide I posted to installing Lion on this laptop. I am running Lion 10.7.5 on it, and it is stable and...

Any luck updating HP DVx's to 10.7.4

Mickey is the greatest! I used the files you linked to, and after installing the update, it rebooted right into 10.7.4. Thanks for everything.

Any luck updating HP DVx's to 10.7.4

I searched and have not been able to find any thread indicating that anyone has had success updating an HP Sandy Bridge DV7 or DV6 to Lion 10.7.4. I have tried to update my system several different ways (with and without the combo update, with Multi-Beast and various of its options), all to no...

Guide for Installing Lion on the 4530s Version 3

I don't know, that's up to you, but your laptop is completely different than the one that is the subject of the 4530s forum. Although it is a probook, and has a number that is close, it has different graphics, CPU, motherboard, chipsets, etc. The guide that is made for the 4530s will not work...

Guide for Installing Lion on the 4530s Version 3

With the Sandy Bridge Intel HD3000s, like the 4530s, the Mac can detect and use the built in graphics. With your graphics card, you will have to find out if you can make it work with Mac. If you cannot, then you may not be able to get QE/CI. That card is not part of the discussion of this...

Guide for Installing Lion on the 4530s Version 3

For QE/CI, try using OSX86 Tools. Google it and download that program. When you run it, one of the buttons you can click says "Install/Uninstall Quartz GL" or something like that. Click the button, and install Quartz GL. That did the trick for my DV7. It's a long shot, but worth a try. For...

Guide for Installing Lion on the 4530s Version 3

You used to be able to install Lion from an installer partition on the hard drive when updating from Snow Leopard. I don't know any reason why that wouldn't still work. You'd have to use Unibeast just like you are creating a flash drive, but instead install it to the separate partition on the...

    HP Probook 4730s

I switched to 8,3. It shows "17 inch Early 2011 MacBook Pro". Since my laptop is 17 inch, it makes more sense to have that identifier. I have not noticed a difference in operation, though. It is running just fine either way, only occasionally does it have a glitch in Mission Control.

Guide for Installing Lion on the 4530s Version 3

I believe so, but it's more complicated. You can go to the HP.com support page for your computer. Look for their bios support information. There is a program that you install onto a flash drive. You might need a Windows computer to do that install, not sure if you can just copy it over. You also...

    HP Recovery Partition

That's the best way to do it, because you have all the drivers. If a person can't wait for the disks to arrive, you can download Windows 7 from Microsoft (look for the same version that your laptop came with.) Copy the iso to a DVD. Then, use the product number that your laptop's Win 7 came with...
