Alright so - I looked up the final line from verbose mode in the forums:
"mbinit: done [128MB total pool size, (85/42 split]"
I found a few threads talking about enabling USB Ownership...
So as a test, I modified the following two settings in BIOS:
VT-d : disabled
Internal Graphics : disabled
I then disconnected wall power and left the tower sitting for 5 minutes, rebooted, and the settings were still there. I think this points to the CMOS battery still being fine.
Awesome, thank you @trs96 I will locate some Z170X guides and confirm the BIOS settings.
For what it is worth - I also booted up in verbose mode and this was what I saw - I don't know if this provides any insight or not, but here it is:
I did not replace the CMOS battery, but it is 7 years old so I thought maybe it has very little charge left. I did wonder if the BIOS settings may have been reset to default.
I was able to access the Gigabyte BIOS menu screen, but I don't know off the top of my head what my configured BIOS...

All of the components remained the same - nothing was changed from the original configuration (same as in my signature.)
I took my machine apart this weekend to give it a detailed clean (alcohol and cotton swabs on the fans, blowing out dust). My intention was to verify all of my components, with the intention of planning an upgrade to a newer graphics card, so I could install a more modern macOS.
Everything...
Hello, I need to update my 10.12 hackintosh to 10.13.
I found this thread https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/ and it starts off saying the update process can be done "...just like a regular Mac would." but after reading the rest of the post it...
Have been trying to load NVidia Web Drivers, but running into problem #6
-Installed OSX 10.12.4 with Unibeast.
-After rebooting, opened Multibeast, and I checked the "NVidia Web Drivers Boot Flag" option in Drivers>Graphics
-Installed NVidia Web Drivers
-After rebooting, set the NVidia...
Anyone have any preferences between these two options, or experience with both?
I'm specifically wondering if either have any better track record when it comes to audio performance. (I'm working with Ableton myself, but curious about Logic or other DAWs as well.)
I've read some people arguing...
I haven't been able to find any specific resources that mention "upper limits" of hardware for older operating systems. I'm using brand new hardware but wanted to try and install OSX 10.8.5, as it is what I'm familiar with.
Specifically curious if...
-Gigabyte - GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1151...
Thanks a bunch! I've actually realized that I have an onboard GPU that might fit my purposes as well... going to give it a shot with that and then if I really do need a full fledged dedicated GPU I'll make use of your advice. Cheers :headbang:
Okay, one more question because there seem to be a lot of cards which have the phrase "GTX 1050 Ti"
I've been recommended a "ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 ROG Strix" by a local shop. I've found videos demonstrating this specific model and it sounds very quiet. However I don't see any...
