UPDATE: as I thought that I may have misread a guide I decided to start again from scratch following Pastrychef's method. Eventually, I got it working. So far it's booted twice without usb and I've had no issues. Long may that continue! Many thanks for the help everyone.

Hi Thanks for the quick reply. As far as I can understand the issue surrounds not being able to find the usb flash drive as its in a usb3 port.....however, I've completed the install so theoretically I should need the flash drive?

Thanks for the tips... Originally I was toying with going with a compact build, and then I tried seeing what the difference would be going for a larger build. There no rhyme or reason for size now other than it not taking up loads of room. Can I ask why you wouldn't go msi?
