[Guide] HP 6300 Pro / HP 8300 Elite - A 100 percent Working and Easily Affordable CustoMac

Did you find moving up to Haswell was at all noticeable? I'm not seeing enough difference between an i7 3770 and a 4770 to splash out for new-to-me hardware, though in the future maybe a 4790 might work (at least I'd be able to recycle my DDR3 ram).

Today's project: more ram. Found two used Kingston HyperX DDR3 1800 8GB dimms today, figured they'd probably play well with the two sticks of Kingston HyperX 1600 already in my 8300. Was expecting them to clock down and run at 1600, the unexpected good news is the 8300 instead seems to have...

HP 6300 to 8300 mobo swap A while back I bought an 8300 SFF mobo, and finally got around to swapping it yesterday. The 6300 in the foreground. The HP 6300 / 8300 SFF is nicely configured for assembly / disassembly which made the swap simple and quick - many of the connectors are colour coded...

Be more specific. The gpu ram specification is not the determining factor. psu in the MT is 320W. The recommended psu for this Nvidia 1050 4GB card is 300W: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N105TOC-4GL#sp on the other hand The recommended psu for a 4GB Nvidia Quadro FX5800 in an HP...

My 4k 40" Phillips monitor will not work with my 6300 SFF built in display port. Works fine with my MSI GT 1030 w/ display port.

He's going to get an even better deal if he decides to swap the 8300 for my 6300, as I'll give him the cost of an 8300 mobo

Yup, $20 import duties. Still better than any of the 8300 units being sold in Canada.

Pleased to report fantastic sound with onboard audio. Followed the guide, added a Klipsch 4.1 speaker setup I dusted off from storage (just setup as two pair of split stereo speakers plus sub). Sounds amazing. Added some Rogue Amoeba Airfoil Satellite for Mac software which allows me to...

[Guide] HP 6300 Pro / HP 8300 Elite - A 100 percent Working and Easily Affordable CustoMac

Yeah, that's the conclusion I've arrived at. There seem to be 8300 SFF mobos available for about the price of a 2 port SATA3 adapter card, and since I really only need 1 port, and could possibly use the x4 pci-e slot, this is an attractive option. Since I have already got low profile video, a...

Yeah, hear you. Finding very reasonably priced 8300 SFF mobos on eBay, not so much for 8300 MT cases or cpu-less systems. as for full size wifi, have ordered a 3 antenna pci-e adapter bcm94360CSAX card as i can cut that bracket down, and a BCM94360CSAX card which is the 3 antenna macbook...

Does anyone know if the 8300 SFF will fit a 6300 SFF case? I'm finding hints that they are: they look the same, eBay has front bezels, case lids, power supplies labeled as "6300 8300" I'm thinking that in the future, I may want to add another SATA 3 port (thanks HP for making it look like the...
