found the solution here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/143959-yosemite-fully-working-installation-guide-alc892-audio-working-ga-x79-up4-nvidia-geforce-gtx-760-a.html
Its basically: npci=0x3000 cpus=1 before booting the USB. so 3000 not 2000 or 4000 that made the difference !!!
Worked for me on GA-X79-UP5, however with some changes:
- no 1920x1080x32 .. my monitor is larger so you get strange artefacts if you do and its not needed.
- Lan Driver AppleIntelE1000e v2.5.4d <- I tried a few but this one final worked!
So next my 780gtx TI .. lets look for solution.
Yes I know that. When installing Lion it was one of the tricks I used. Mavericks however was so easy to install, never had problem to type in any extras. So Yosemite is so much more of fumble. I mean why is not even the installer running?
I tried nearly everything, like choosing different USB...
Thanks.. followed your instruction. Did not work.
Also got me a brand new USB stick and still the same result.
Once the monitor get grey and the logo appears it stops.
I don't really think it has to do with the installed Os, I also tried an empty harddrive. Still it stops...
I almost gave up. I have no idea, but the installer always holds after the Apple load screen shows up. I also tried it on another machine and there it loads 50% and then screen turns black.
Board: Gigabyte x79-ud5, BIOS 12, with gtx 560ti
Also tried different USB ports. Like USB 2.0 USB 3.0...
I'm running Mavericks 10.9.2 and GTX 780 ti (gigabyte).
It starts without problem, recognize the card correct and most application work. Except preview and some image software.
Maybe an OpenCL problem.
With 3d application the card perform very fast. Not seeing a problem yet.
I got the problem that Quicktime can't encode videos, the rest is running fine with Mavericks 10.9 and the gtx 660ti.
So I wonder if the driver would solve that issue, however if I download it's .pkg file and not working with the OS (warning in installer).
Any tipps ?
followed the instructions, worked!
So its mostly the same like in Mountain Lion but without extra ktex installation. And of course I added the npci=0x2000 flag.
Still got a few problems:
- Monitor sleep will crash the system. I get green dots on black screen. Seems like the graphic card...
Not that easy.. every board and build has had its problems, but with this wonderful board you are able to solve all problems.
If you want to go the save way, take older hardware, but there is no reason to take it away from recommended builds, as it works.
Its also not that easy to blame...
Ok I changed the fans to 'be quite 1500rpm' fans. They are really silent, but the system can't beat a MacPro in silence. Guess that simple the air that causes the noise now. Anyhow, even with 4.6 Ghz under full power the system gets not noise and stays with about 45°. Not bad!
OsX is fast and...
Well on my first try on that system I did an upgrade and it worked too.. this time not.
Also on all other computers it worked (different configuration).
I think this might have to do with some ktex.. so maybe I try again, and reinstall the ktex, try tomorrow clone the system and test it.
