Uses Realtek 8153 chipset and requires no driver installation on High Sierra. Works natively on my Macbook and Hackintosh as plug and play.
I'm super excited because I finally penciled out the time to install High Sierra and it fixes some major issues with multimonitor and multiple video cards. At least 10.13.5 does.
1. There was always a once per second stutter with multiple monitors attached to more than one video card if...
Your 1050Ti is simply a weak card in general or Ableton Live is not particularly well optimized for HiDPI displays. nVidia drivers are rather poorly optimized for macOS so your experience is not surprising.
It does seem like physical damage at first, but as far as I can tell it's a weird quirk of the monitor. Leaving the monitor off settles it down within an hour or so. Leaving it off for a day or two also has the same effect. I've learned to simply not let the monitor display in an out of sync...
I love my 5K Dell's but it has required some serious tinkering and experimentation to make them work. I too would have a hard time recommending them unless that person really enjoys tinkering. Even then, we never got to a real solution until the lilu.kext author did some reverse engineering of...
There's an SSDT sample in the WhateverGreen FAQ you can use as a reference. SSDT's are quite complicated but you essentially use RehabMan's patched MaciASL to generate/edit them, and then copy them over to EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched. After you understand that piece, it's as simple as adding the...
Had some time to follow up on this and can confirm copying the following params are what fixed the video glitching.
PP_MediumStateDownHysteresisTimeOut
PP_SISLANDSMediumStateHysteresisDown
Based on the naming of the params, the glitches are probably caused by the video card switching to a...
Some combination of flags in AMD7000Controller.kext may have fixed my video playback glitching issues.
I simply copied over some of the CFG and PP flags that were set in the MacPro framebuffers (Kani,Ikura,Maguro ... I used Kani) into the defaults section. This included...
I'm encountering some weird glitching that happens during video playback ... relatively repeatable on certain youtube videos and causes horizontal lines to glitch across parts of the screen. Stops immediately if I stop video playback. Oddly I never encountered this prior to the WhateverGreen...
Until Apple supports multi stream transport monitors on more than one video card, I can't upgrade yet. It looks like the Radeon WX 9100 will be 6 DisplayPort, but it also will probably cost 2000 dollars or thereabouts :P.
Hopefully the design of the new Mac Pro gets them to support this...
